We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we borrow it from our Chil- dren. "Indian Proverb” A Walk On Moss A Walk On Moss was a play written and directed by Robert and Rayanne Charlie. The ob- jective of the play was to bring to light issues such as colonization, loss of language and tradition, and the effects of residential schools on First Nations. The cast is made up of 15 Burns Lake residents who travelled this spring to Prince George, Fort St James, and Smithers to perform the play in there communities. The cast included: Chief Robert Charlie, Wilf Plasway Jr, Scott Stoecker, Theresa Patrick, Monica Nguyen, Kyle Sam, Lee Calhoun, Kelly Tizya, Michael Blair, Sonya Patrick, Destiny Michelle, Cori Johnson, Keshia Lowley, Lucy Fortin, Darien Petit, and Geronimo Alec. The cast and directors plan to take a year break from the play and then bring it on the road again in hopes of performing in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, and Montreal. 4 BLNDC hosted our 11th annual Aboriginal Day this year in Burns Lake. The Parade took place on Government Street at 10:00 am and the festivities began at 11:00 am at Spirit Square. More than four hundred people from Burns Lake and surrounding areas were in attendance and participated in the day’s events and enjoyed the entertainment. Local artists such as: A Walk On Moss cast, Lake Babine Nation Hereditary Singers, Primal Stance, Joel West and the Distributors, and Muriel Mould Primary School students put up a great show that everyone enjoyed. The Old Fort Traditional Dancers and Doris Munger brought their traditional groups from out of town to perform as well. It was a fun day in the sun and BLNDC thanks all the sponsors, volunteers, and community members for helping us make this year such a great success! BLNDC encourages local youth to gain first hand business experience during their school years. To apply the students had to create a mini business plan and submitted by June 18th 2010 for review by the BLNDC’s Student Venture Incentive Program Coordinator. Twelve applicants were selected for the $200 awards. Winners are Ryley Eakin, Kelly Zimmer, Jules Bennett, Nathan Wiebe, Katie Watts, Savannah Nathaus, Emily Dickson,

Rannel Joseph, Filaria Leon, Hillary Ashley Leon, Amber Leon and Michelle Tom.

share their rich, diverse

cultures with family

members, neighbours,

friends and visitors.

June 21 marks the

Summer solstice in the

northern hemisphere

making it the day with

the longest hours of

daylight.

Aboriginal people from

all over Canada take

pride in celebrating Na-
