The year 2003 can easy be called a year of Action flicks, We were treated with a year full of Adventure, action, sci-fi and Superheroes. It started early with Daredevil and later that year by the Marvel Comic Book counterparts The Hulk and Xmen2.

Daredevil made a good impact, however there we too many simi-larities to the Spiderman movie.

Xmen2 was one of the best movies of the year, everyone loved Nightcrawler appearance, the story line and the ending that leaves you anticipating Xmen3

The Hulk, a lot of people were disappointed because the CGI hulk just did not have enough humanity to it, Lou Ferrigno (the hulk from the TV show) got a huge chear during his cameo. They should have used him again, even if they had to use movie magic to make the 10ft tall character they wanted. Either Lou or Brock Lesnar from the WWE would have done a better hulk than the com-puter generated one.

Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. For a lot of us, this was the first time we saw two continuing movies in the same year. Re-loaded had a little more Punch than the grand finally.

Underworld, In the preview we felt like this would be a Matrix rip off however this Vampire VS Warewolf saga proved this to be untrue.

Badboys II was perhaps the Baddest of the all, non stop Action and comedy from start to finish.

Terminator 3 had a lot of similarities to T2 however the story line was a bit different and is beginning to complete the story that be-gan in the original Terminator.

The End of the year Brought us the Final Chapter of Lord of The Rings.

Kill Bill Part1 was a surprise hit and the end of the year as well. Most people did not even hear about this movie until it came out. Pt 2 is set for This Year

We also had others favorite like The Medallion (Jackie Chan) and SPY Kids 3D.

Overall a spectacular year, and there are no plans on stopping, Marvel Comics alone has Plans to Release SpiderMan 2 that looks incredible, the Villain will be Dr. Octopus. The Punisher is also set for release. In the Future they have plans for Iron Man, X3, and The karate Master Iron Fist. and with all those hits I’m sure DC comics will want to compete as well, so Expect another Superman, another Batman, Catwoman and possibly Wonder Woman.

Markee grins. “We didn’t have a clue what to expect. And suddenly there was 20,000 people all singing catch back at us. Me and Sian just looked at each other on stage as if to say, Fu$%& Hell! What’s going on?!”

Inevitably while on tour, Kosheen turned their atten-tion to their second album. Enthused by the incredible reception they had received live, they began writing songs with that in mind, tracks they knew would sound great on stage. The resulting record - now named ‘Kokopelli’ after the North American Indian symbol of fertility, individuality and music - is a hypnotic, intimate collection of songs from the soul. The divide between Sian’s folk upbringing and Darren and Markee’s electronica background is less pronounced while influences including The Pretenders, The Cure, Kate Bush and Radio-head all resonate.

“I think it’s harder and darker than the last album,” Darren reckons, “and a lot more personal too. There are more guitars in there too but it’s not your standard rock album. We’ve taken elements of rock and all dif-ferent types of music which we enjoy and fused it all together to come up with something slightly different. I don’t ever want people to expect anything from us.”

Crucially, while the music sounds darker and more apocalyptic, Sian’s lyrics have grown more personal, as she reveals herself to us track by track. While the bleak ‘Recovery’ tells of a feeling of not fitting in, coupled with excess of drugs or alcohol, ‘All In My Head’ is the ultimate long distance love song, inspired by a phone conversation between Sian and her own partner and describing the lover who may be physi-cally distant but can always be present in your mind. ‘Coming Home’, meanwhile, is a beautiful, yearning wish to be back with those you love.

“I wrote it a long time ago but it became more poignant with touring. It’s that idea of get the kettle on and the bed warmed up, I’m coming home! Just that lovely feeling of going back home to the arms of your lovers or your kids. That feeling, for us, of hitting the M32!”

For now, though, Kosheen are ready to hit that motorway again and bring their new studio sound to the live stage, the place where they have truly proved they are a band without limits.

“I feel like we’re a band that’s different to anything else out there,” Mar-kee states determinedly. “We can stand up and do a tune like any other rock band. But we can also go to a club and smash it up there as well. We want to be able to do that in all areas. It’s just being greedy really!”
