Background Information
Burj Khalifa is a skyscraper in Dubai, United ArabEmirates. It is the tallest man-made building ever built,at 829.4 m.
Construction began on 21 September 2004, the exteriorof the building was finished on 1 October 2009.
The building finished and opened on the 4th of January2010. It took overall 6 years to be finished!!

The design of Burj Khalifa isderived from patterning systems
embodied in Islamic architecture.
According to the structural
engineer, Bill Baker, the building's
design contains cultural and
historical elements particular to the
region.
The Y-shaped plan is ideal for
residential and hotel usage, with the
wings allowing maximum outward
views and inward natural light

interiors of Burj Khalifa featuring 196bronze

The exterior cladding is made up of reflective
aluminum and textured stainless glass to resist

The total cost of the project was about $1.5 billions!!
The Armani hotel that is found on the first floors of the
building cost $37,500 per m2
and the rest of it cost$43,000 per m2 !

Structural system described as Buttressed Core
Central core provides torsional resistance.
Corridor walls extended from core to end ofwings where they are thickened with hammerhead walls(acts like web and flanges of a beam)
At mechanical floors perimeter columns are
connected through outriggers walls. Tower is crowned with 4000 tones structural
steel spire(200m height)

The opening day washeld on 4th January2010.
