The Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) of the IQAC

All NAAC accredited institutions will submit an annual self-reviewed progress report to NAAC,

using online banking in class ,which helped students in understanding practically about transfer of funds through online and other benefits of Internet Banking

2.12 How does IQAC Contribute/Monitor/Evaluate of Teaching & Learning Process:

IQAC has contributed in the following ways to improve the Teaching learning process of the college:

o Preparation of Annual Teaching Plan by all teachers at the beginning of every semester Encourages faculty members to attend various seminars, workshops to update their knowledge.

o Maintaining daily lecture schedule in work daily, scrutiny of the same is done by respective Coordinator and then by Principal

o Collaborations with IIT and TISS to provide value added courses to students. o Collaboration with Ambika Yoga Kutir for Yoga sessions for teachers and students o Focused learning programme for slow learners through Remedial and Bridge Course for

students from other Programmes (Streams) o Conducted a Two Day Workshop on “E-Learning with MOODLE” on 30th & 31st

March, 2017 o Members from Chinmaya Yuva Kendra, Chinmaya Mission, Mumbai had conducted a

session on Transforming Indians to Transform India under the module – “Physical Transformation “ on 27th November , 2016

o Appreciation letters for teachers getting 100% result in respective T.Y. University Papers and for those teachers whose students Score 100/100 in University Paper.

o Conducted workshop on NET SLET, Paper 1 (General) AND Paper 2 and 3 (Commerce) for teachers of various colleges across university of Mumbai.

o Analysis of learners feedback about faculty members, obtained by HODs, Coordinators, Vice-Principal.

3.1 Initiatives of IQAC in Sensitizing/Promoting Research Climate in the institution

E-learning with Moodle for teaching, learning and evaluation – 2 days Hands on workshop was conducted on 30th and 31st March 2017 for entire teaching staff. Academic Counseling: For academic counseling, we generally divide the students into advanced learners and deferred learners. For advance learners , we provide additional coaching, and for deferred learners, extra care is taken through additional classes to classify the fundamental concepts. In cases where one to one counseling is required our teachers provide the same to the students.

Counseling Centre: College has a full time counselor. Counselling cerntre is guided by renowned Psychiatrist of Mumbai Dr. Harish Shetty. Counsellor takes sessions to teachers especially on how to become ‘Mental Health Soldiers’. They also take sessions for students covering adolescent issue like stress, depression, drug abuse, break up issues in the relationship and issues related to broken families.

Career Guidance: College has a career guidance and Placement cell who conducts sessions on career guidance and several resource persons are invited to deliver sessions on career advancement for undergraduate students.

Our teachers participate regularly in faculty development programme organized by University of Mumbai and other Educational Institutions.

A two day workshop was organized in the college on ‘E-learning with Moodles’. Each teacher prepares a teaching plan for the entire semester and approved and

monitored by the course coordinator. Also, teachers keep a work dairy in this respect. Students are encouraged to go for internship. BMM department has initiated “Filmy Friday” to understand the subject ‘Understanding

Cinema’. Theory papers are coordinated with simulation like Trading on shares, Rural Markets

etc. A initiative programme was introduced Students are taken to RBI, Field Trips, and Industrial Visits etc. Bridge Courses, Mentoring classes, special coaching for Advanced Learners are being

carried out. ICT and internet based teaching are extensively carried out.

Examination and Evaluation blue print is in place and portions pertaining to students are also published in prospectus and available in website.

Examination committee interacts with the teachers on the components of the examination. Course coordinators and respective class teachers interact with students during open house

on many issues of examinations. Total automation of examination process helps in declaration of results and completion of

revaluation process well in time. Rules and regulations laid down by the University of Mumbai for regular examination is

strictly followed by the college.

College is the approved Research Centre in ‘Commerce’ by the University of Mumbai with effect from

Research activities of both teachers and students are guided and promoted by the ‘ Research Cell’ of the college.

Seed money is given for teachers and students for presentation of papers in conferences and seminars.

There are 9 in-house magazines of various departments for students and teachers to write Research article for them.

Learning Resource Center

Library at Bunts Sangha’s S.M. Shetty College of Science, Commerce and Management Studies, Powai truly lives up to its name of “Learning Resource Center” by providing a variety of Information Resources for Teaching, Learning and Research. The Library is fully air-conditioned and the overall ambience of the library is very conducive for learning. The library possesses both print and e-resources to satisfy the information needs of its users. The number of books has seen a steady rise with an average of more than 1,100 books added every year. The library subscribes to N-LIST e-resource database for access to e-journals and e-books. To keep the teaching fraternity abreast with the latest developments in their field, the library provides contents page service of current periodicals on a regular basis. News alert through whatsapp is provided to the teachers daily. Students are guided in their search for information as well as information resources by the library staff as and when needed. Students are provided with 15 computers in the library with internet facility for their study and research purpose. In addition to this, Wi-fi connectivity is also provided to the students. The library also offers book bank facility to the economically weak students. Digital Repository created by the library offers access to past years question papers and other online resources. The library has membership to British Council and Tata Institute of Social Sciences Library. To inculcate good reading habits amongst the students, various events like Book Review Competitions and Book Exhibition are arranged by the library.

Collection Development

The library added 2,760 books in 2016-2017. All periodicals and memberships were renewed. The library started with Book Bank facility for economically weaker students and 1,169 books were purchased in 2016-2017 in the book bank category.

Electronic Library

The library subscribes to N-LIST, the e-resources package of INFLIBNET. N-LIST provides access to 6,000+ e-journals and 31,35,000+ e-books. Apart from this the library has CD-ROM collection. The library also promotes the use of free e-resources like Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), National Digital Library (NDL), E-Pathshala etc.

Best Reader Award

‘The Best Reader Award’ is to the student who has read maximum books during the year. The award is given during the College Annual Day function. Mr. Pankaj Yadav of TYBCom bagged the award for the year 2016.

Library Awareness Programmes

In addition to the common orientation programme, the library also organizes Library Awareness Programmes for freshers. The library awareness programme is given to students of each programme separately. The aim of this programme is to give the freshers an in-depth understanding of the library collection, services and facilities.

ICT – Each class is provided with wall mounted over head projector and separate Laptops for each department.

Library and classrooms are WIFI enabled This year, college office was renovated, a classroom was converted into a training room and

The philosophy of the management of the college is to take good care of its employees.

Feedback of employees are taken in a formal and structured way and findings are conveyed to each employee.

Performing employees are rewarded with extra monetary benefit and promotions During Teachers Day, an environment is provided to showcase the talents of teachers and

each employee of the institution was given a decent gift. A highly appreciable gesture of the management is the Group Cashless Mediclaim

Insurance to each employee team this year. There are few instances where in advanced salary was given to support staff to meet the

medical expenses of their close relatives. Fees Concession is provided to the children of the staff who study in our High School and

An MOU is signed with Wellness Forever to supply medicine at a discounted rate. In appreciation of the above, college has been awarded with Gold level ‘Healthy Work

Place Award’ by Arogya World, Pennsylvania, US and the award would be given on November 9,2017 in Bangalore.

As per University of Mumbai/ Government of Maharashtra guidelines.

We have collaborations with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) for skill development under National University Students’ Skill Development (NUSSD). This programme is implemented simultaneously along with the curriculum. We have MOU with IIT Bombay for spoken tutorials and e- entrepreneurship. Both the collaborations helped enhance employability skills of our students.

A wide publicity is given through college website and prospectus. In addition to this, by organizing inter- collegiate festivals and competitions enough propaganda was given.

Even the college is centre for competitive examinations and job fairs. Even the Alumni Members of our college act as Brand Ambassadors of the college. Admission is being done on a transparent way following all the rules and regulations of the

A few alumni members were invited as ‘Resource Persons’ to address the contemporary issues to our current students. They are also invited as judges and referees for the various academic, curricular and co-curricular competitions.

Alumni Association has also played its role in getting internship for our students. Many Alumni members even arranged for campus recruitment. Members also gave motivational talks to our present students. They also perform during Annual Days to perpetuate the bondage between them

Performing employees are rewarded with extra monetary benefit and promotions During Teachers Day, an environment is provided to showcase the talents of teachers and

each employee of the institution was given a decent gift. A highly appreciable gesture of the management is the Group Cashless Mediclaim Insurance

to each employee. There are few instances where in advanced salary was given to support staff to meet the

medical expenses of their close relatives. Fees Concession is provided to the children of the staff who study in our High School and

Junior College. Even support staff (attendant or peon is encouraged to pursue their higher education by

relaxing their working time and concession in fees. Meditation and Yoga sessions are arranged for the staffs. Health Camps are arranged for the benefit of both teaching and non – teaching staff. An MOU is signed with Wellness Forever to supply medicine at a discounted rate.

Tree Plantation is the regular feature of the college. Campaign on ‘Say No to Plastics’. Contributing towards Swachchha Bharat Abhiyaan: - Adoption of Vikhroli Station by NSS to clean the station and educate the

commuters. - Cleanliness drive at Sangharsh Nagar, an area in the vicinity of the college is also

adopted by various committees of the college jointly. The students along with staff as well as management of the institution have cleaned the area and educated people about cleanliness habits

Empowering students: - Responsibilities are formally assigned to the college students through Oath
