Term 3 Week 8 Monday 30th August, 2021 ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————--—- P. 4758 6120 e. [email protected]w. [email protected]www.facebook.com/HazelbrookPS Bunmurra Byala Here, there, everywhere. Blue Tongue Lizard talk Dear Families, Welcome to Week 8, Term 3. I am sure you saw some announcements in the news last Friday about students returning to school and how that might be managed. Whilst we know in this current situaon that plans can change rapidly due to the nature of the virus, there is a plan to have all students back on-site by Week 6 Term 4. As soon as we have firm plans in place for this return, we will communicate these with our families. We hope families are enjoying the more user-friendly layout we have adopted in our learning frameworks this week. Don’t forget to access the Well-being Grid at the end of each of the frameworks if you feel your children need to spend some me each day away from schoolwork but sll occupied. Just a reminder that we have reduced the number of CORE tasks that we require from students to be able to mark them as having aended ‘learning from home’ for the week to 12 (5 x Reading, 3 x Wring and 4 x Maths). 3-6 Guided Reading Zoom sessions have started this week, and K-2 will start their sessions next week aſter familiarising themselves with the online plaorms this week. Informaon about these Guided Reading Zooms, including the Zoom metable, can be found in the parent portal in the ‘School Resources’ folder. Class teachers have provided students with login details, so please get in touch with your child ’s class teacher if you have difficulty locang yours. Last Thursday, the Execuve Team ran two Zoom Q & A sessions. We had 34 families aend, and the feedback was that they found these sessions both informave and reassuring. Not only was it lovely to see our families, but the forum also gave parents and carers an opportunity to connect with other families and share their similar experiences. We will run another session around the COVID safe return to school plan when details are finalised. I wanted to say a very big thank you to the incredible staff that I have the pleasure of working with every day. They have the utmost care and concern for their students and connually go above and beyond for them. Just last week, one of them cooked meals for a family in need and delivered these to their doorstep. I ’m sure you join me in thanking the connued effort and support provided by your child ’s class teacher in these difficult mes. Please take care, look aſter your health and well-being, and remember we are only a phone call away and are happy to assist in whatever way we can. Lesley Lowe Relieving Principal

Class teachers will let families know which reading group their child is in. K-2 STUDENTS WILL START THEIR READING ZOOM SESSIONS THE FOLLOWING WEEK - WEEK 9 (Their reading lessons have been 'greyed' out on the timetable). In Week 8 they will become familiar with the digital reading platforms. THIS WEEK 3-6 STUDENTS WILL START THEIR READING ZOOMS, AND K-6 STUDENTS WILL ENGAGE IN THEIR WELL-BEING ZOOMS. Participation in Reading Zooms is expected. Please note that some teachers may be scheduled to undertake professional learning on particular days and will contact families to re-negotiate a suitable time for Reading Zoom lessons. Please see the schedule on the following page.
Appreciation Posts Hi to all the staff working at the school,
I meant to send this email over a week ago but the
days have all blurred into one. Time seems to move fast
and slow these days!
Thank you for all your combined efforts and support
during this long stretch of learning from home - from
posting out certificates to the care packages...
It hasn't been easy for Tadhg (KH) moving to a new
home and not being able to start school properly but
he's certainly getting a good taste of good things to
come.
Much appreciated and hope you're all hanging in there
too.

Well done to Tadhg (KH) and Isla (KL) who have joined our
school at the beginning of Term 3. Due to lockdown, they
have not been able to attend in person but we thank them
for their hard work and we look forward to welcoming them
into our community once we are able to.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you to Mrs Harding for this
bit of Book Week fun! Can you name
the books using the emoji clues?
Good Luck
Thank you so much for the Certificate of Appreciation! I noticed Zoe (KH) had been awarded it in this week’s newsletter and we received the hard copy in the post today. Zoe was soooo excited! Thank you also for all the hard work you’re doing for us all during lockdown! We are feeling very supported by you and all the staff at HPS. You deserve a certificate of appreciation also - A very big one!
Our next P&C meeting will be held on Tuesday 14 September at 7pm, it will be held via zoom. Please email [email protected] if you would like the link to join the meeting. All are welcome!
