    GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH(Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod)

    LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSASJune 16, 2013

    THE FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

    PRAYER UPON ENTERING CHURCH

Gracious and merciful Lord, in Your great love for me and for all You sent Your Son Jesus todie so that I might live with the assurance of sins forgiven now and forever. Grant that I may, by YourHoly Spirits power, live my life in thanksgiving to You for Your great mercy, gladly seeking to show

my love for You in service to You and my neighbor. I pray this in Jesus holy name. AmenWELCOME

We welcome you this morning to Grace! It is indeed good for you to be here today. Maythe Lord bless your time as you hear His Word and respond with hymns, praise and thanksgiving asyour faiths response to the Good News of forgiveness and life. If you are not a member of Grace anddesire to learn more about our teachings as drawn from Gods Word, please speak with our Pastor. Once again we are glad you are here and we invite you to come and worship with us again.

We ask that everyone fill out an attendance registration card found at each pew and return itto an Usher as the Offering is collected. Restrooms are located on the lower level of this building oracross the bridge on this floor level before entering the fellowship hall. Children are welcome in ourService and will be invited to come forward for a Childrens Message. Parents may accompany themif they wish. A nursery for infants and toddlers is located downstairs for anyone who has need. If youhave any questions please speak with an Usher or Greeter.

HOLY COMMUNIONHoly Communion will be celebrated in the 10:45 Service today. In this sacrament we receive

Christs very body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. Those who are not members of Grace areasked to speak with our Pastor before partaking of this sacrament so that the unity of faith might beestablished. Thank you for honoring this request.

AS WE GATHERToday we encounter two parablesone in the Old Testament reading and one in our Gospel

reading. They are two very different parables, but they both lead to the same resultforgiveness. Inour reading from 2 Samuel 11, the prophet Nathan shares a story with King David, which involves arich man stealing a little ewe lamb from a poor man. With the help of Nathan, David comes to see hisown sin, repents, and receives forgiveness. In our reading from Luke 7, Jesus Himself tells a story oftwo debtors who owed different amounts of money; regardless, both debts were cancelled. Making aconnection between the sinful woman at His feet and the debtor who owed much, Jesus forgives thewomans sins. As You hear Gods Word today, know that it is His Word specifically for you. No

matter who you are or what you have done, Gods Word of Gospel gives forgiveness for Jesus sake.Today Your mercy calls us To wash away our sin. However great our trespass, Whatever we havebeen, However long from mercy Our hearts have turned away, Your precious blood can wash us And

make us clean today. [LSB 915:1]

    Psalm Psalm 32:17 (antiphon: v. 5)

P I acknowledged my sin to you,

    C and I did not cover my iniquity;

P I said, I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,C and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

P Blessd is the one whose transgression is forgiven,C whose sin is covered.

P Blessd is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity,C and in whose spirit there is no deceit.

P For when I kept silent, my bones wasted awayC through my groaning all day long.
