SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY JULY 1, 201213th Sunday of Ordinary Time 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary

Welcome

Call to Worship: Psalm 67:1-3

*Hymn: To God Be the Glory #485

Prayer of Confession: Merciful God, in Your gracious Presence we confess our sin and the sin of this world. Although Christ is among us as our peace, we are a people divided against ourselves as we cling to the values of a broken world. The fears and jealousies that we harbor set neighbor against neighbor and nation against nation. Lord, have mercy upon us; heal and forgive us. Help us to be strong and courageous and remind us that You are with us wherever we go. Set us free to share Your love with one another and bear much fruit as we abide in Your precious Son, Jesus.

Silent Confession

Confessional Response: Kyrie Kyrie eleison; Christe eleison; Kyrie eleison.

Translation: Lord have mercy; Christ have mercy; Lord have mercy.

Assurance of Pardon: 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4

The Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ The table of our Lord is at the center of life as a Christian community and stands as an invitation to the fullness of life that God intends for each of us. At the table we celebrate the promises of our baptism, that Christ can be alive in us and we in Him. Our Lord invites all of God’s baptized to His table regardless of age, denominational connection or social status. The choice to commune at this particular table is yours; however, please do not feel obligated.

*Hymn: The Old Rugged Cross

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,The emblem of suff’ring and shame;

And I love that old cross where the dearest and best, For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain: So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, Till my trophies at last I lay down;I will cling to the old rugged cross,

And exchange it some day for a crown.

Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world, Has a wondrous attraction for me;

For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above To bear it to dark Calvary.

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, A wondrous beauty I see,

For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died, To pardon and sanctify me.

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true; Its shame and reproach gladly bear;

Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away, Where His glory forever I’ll share.

*An Invitation to Christian Discipleship
