"All of us must put our energy and effort into ending the legal protection for abortion. It is,
and must be, the primary political objective of American Catholics—it is difficult to imagine
any political issue with the same significance as the sanctioned killing of children."

Many thanks to Pam Kane and Donna Favia for last week’s Confirmation retreat. It was good to see them all at the 9:30 Mass last Sunday. Pam put a great deal of work and thought into preparing the retreat. From what I have heard, the retreat went over very well. Please keep the year 2 Confirmation student in your prayers as they approach Confirmation day.
The Knights of Columbus held a wonderful prayer service last Sunday. The prayer service revolved around the icon of our Lady help of Persecuted Christians. The service was put together and executed well. Many thanks to John Nesbitt and all the Knights of Columbus that participated.
On Thursday, I gave a presentation at the ministry Center on Marian icons. As I write this article I haven’t actually given the talk yet but would still like to thank the Pastoral Council for providing the soup supper and to all those who helped in the preparation of the event and for those who attended the event.
The sale of St. John Bosco School is progressing. I will keep you informed.
Next weekend starts Holy Week. Please make this your calendar and join us.

Area clergy have proposed a schedule of specific items to be collected every month by each participating church to ensure food pantries are always fully stocked. At the beginning of each month there will be a notice in the bulletin stating the items our parish will be collecting for the month. We encourage you to donate these specific items, but know that ALL donations are accepted and greatly appreciated.
April items are: pasta, rice, tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce and shampoo.

STEWARDSHIP CORNER
April 7, 2019
5th Sunday of Lent “For his sake I have accepted the loss of all things and I consider them so much rubbish, that I may gain
Christ…“ (PHILIPPIANS 3:8)
The first commandment says that we should not put other gods before the Lord. Sharing all of our gifts, our time in prayer, our talent in charitable works and our treasure to support Church needs helps us keep God first in everything. It helps us from putting other gods before God. It helps us to use our gifts for the glory of God and not for our own honor.
