Remember Your Parish In Loving Memory
Keep your love for your parish alive. Remember your parish in your will and when recommending expressions of sympathy.
Sunday April 6 ~ 5th Sunday of Lent Scripture I will put my spirit in you that you may live,
(Ezekiel 37:14) I wait with longing for the LORD, my soul waits
for his word. (Psalm 130:5) the One who raised Christ from the dead will
give life (Romans 8:11) I have come to believe that you are the Christ,
(John 11:27)
Reflection What sustains you? What is it that you could not live without? What do you believe? Is Jesus Christ the center of your life? You, Lord, were within me, while I was outside. It was there that I sought you. I rushed headlong up-on these things of beauty that you had made. You were with me, but I was not with you. They kept me far from you, those fair things which, if they were not in you, would not exist at all! You called, you cried out, you shattered my deafness: you flashed, you shone, you scattered my blindness: you breathed perfume, and I drew in my breath and I pant for you: I tasted, and I am hungry and thirsty: you touched me and I burned for your peace.1 1St. Augustine, The Confessions of St. Augustine, translated by Rex Warner, Penguin, New York, 1963, P. 235 – Book X, Chapter 27. Volunteers for Temporary Assignment As Crossing Guard for Construction
We are looking for Volunteers to man the gate to our construction site as an extra precautionary measure to en-sure that children are not at risk of
injury by construction vehicles. The Crossing Guard will need to oversee pedestri-
an traffic at the entranceway to the Church con-struction site from Mountain Road on weekdays, beginning the third week of April until June 27th, 2014, when School is dismissed for summer vaca-tion. Crossing Guard responsibilities will involve wearing a Crossing Guard Vest, using a stop sign and escorting school children safely past the en-trance way of St. Helen Church construction site. There are 3 shifts to cover each day - the morn-ing shift 8:00 - 9:00 a.m., lunch shift 11:32 a.m. - 12:20 p.m. and after school 2:50 - 3:50 pm. The vests and the signs will be kept at St. Mark School, so they can be picked up or dropped off there. Please contact the parish office by phone or email if you would like to volunteer and specify morning, noon or afternoon and dates you are available (Monday thru Friday) so that we can make up a schedule.
Whoever wishes to be my follower must deny his very self, take up his cross each day, and follow in my steps. – Luke 9:23
