Sheep are counted amongst the oldest animals to be domesticated for agricultural purposes. They are quadrupedal, ruminant mammals, typically kept as livestock. Though the name sheep can be used for over 200 distinct species, its everyday usage mostly refers to Ovis Aries. They are believed to have descended from the wild mouflon of Europe and Asia. Sheep are raised for fleece, meat and milk and their wool is used around the world. The milk from sheep is considered to be a very rich source of whey proteins, which also makes it easier to digest. Read on to know some more interesting facts and amazing information on sheep. Facts About Sheep — Height: 25-32 inches at the shoulder, Weight: 45-160 kg, Life Span: 10-12 years, Diet: Grasses and low-lying plants, Habitat: Mountains and

grasslands, Age of Sexual Maturity: 6-8 months, Gestation Period: 147 days, Number of Offspring: 1-3 lambs. Sheep are precocial animals, which imply that they have a greater degree of independence at birth. They are also gregarious by nature, as they like to be in a flock. Apart from being social animals, they also flock together for protecting themselves against any danger. Still, some breeds of sheep are solitary as well. Female sheep are called ewes, baby sheep are called lambs, and male sheep are called rams (they have prominent horns on their head). A group of sheep is called a flock. Sheep are defenseless against predators like coyotes and wild dogs, as they are timid,

THE REGINA COELI: ALL: Joy to thee, O Queen of Heaven, alleluia. He whom thou was meet to bear, alleluia. As He promised hath arisen, alleluia. Pour for us to God thy prayer, alleluia.

Celebrant: Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia! ALL: For the Lord has risen indeed. Alleluia!

Celebrant: Let us pray, O God, Who by the resurrection of thy Son our Lord Jesus Christ,

hast vouchsafed to give joy to the whole world; grant, we beseech Thee, that through the help of his Mother, the Virgin Mary, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life; through the same Christ our Lord.

ALL: Amen.

THE DISMISSAL: Celebrant: Go in peace and serve the Lord. Alleluia, alleluia! ALL: In the Name of Christ. Amen. Alleluia, alleluia!

RECESSIONAL HYMN — 7:00 AM …………………………………. A&M 133

RECESSIONAL HYMN — 9:30 AM ……………. “JESUS, HOLD MY HAND”

As I travel through this pilgrim land there is a Friend who goes with me. Leads me safely thro’ the sinking sand, it is the Christ of Calvary. This would be my pray’r, dear Lord, each day to help me do the best I can, For I need Thy light to guide me day and night, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Blessed Jesus, hold my hand, yes, I need Thee ev'ry hour, Thru this land, this pilgrim land, by Thy saving pow'r. Hear my plea, my feeble plea, Lord, dear Lord, look down on me, When I kneel in prayer, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Let me travel in the light divine that I may see the blessed way; Keep me that I may be wholly Thine and sing redemption's song some day. I will be a soldier brave and true and ever firmly take a stand, As I onward go and daily meet the foe, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

When I wander thru the valley dim toward the setting of the sun, Lead me safely to a land of rest if I a crown of life have won; I have put my faith in Thee, dear Lord, that I may reach the golden strand, There's no other Friend on whom I can depend, Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.

Come ye faithful, raise the strain Of triumphant gladness; God hath brought His Israel Into joy from sadness; Loosed from Pharaoh’s bitter yoke Jacob’s sons and daughters; Led them with unmoisten’d foot Through the Red Sea waters.

‘Tis the Spring of souls to-day; Christ hath burst His prison, And from three days’ sleep in death As a sun hath risen; All the winter of our sins, Long and dark, is flying From His Light, to Whom we give Laud and praise undying.

Now the Queen of seasons, bright With the Day of splendour, With the royal Feast of feasts, Comes its joy to render; Comes to glad Jerusalem, Who with true affection Welcomes in unwearied strains Jesu’s Resurrection.

Alleluia now we cry To our King Immortal, Who triumphant burst the bars Of the tomb’s dark portal; Alleluia, with the Son God the Father praising; Alleluia yet again To the Spirit raising.

THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

The Good Shepherd PROCESSIONAL HYMN ………………….………………………….... “HE LIVES”

I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today; I know that He is living, whatever men may say; I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer, And just the time I need Him, He's always near.

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me, along life's narrow way. He lives, He lives, salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives: He lives within my heart.

In all the world around me, I see His loving care, And tho’ my heart grows weary, I never will despair; I know that He is leading, thru all the stormy blast, The day of His appearing, will come at last.

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, lift up your voice and sing Eternal hallelujahs, to Jesus Christ the King! The hope of all who seek Him, the help of all who find, None other is so loving, so good and kind.

INTROIT HYMN ………………….……………….... “HIS NAME IS WONDERFUL”

His name is wonderful, His name is wonderful, His name is wonderful, Jesus my Lord; He is the mighty King, Master of everything, His name is wonderful, Jesus my Lord!

He’s the Great Shepherd, the Rock of all ages, Almighty God is He; Bow down before Him, love and adore Him, His name is wonderful, Jesus my Lord.

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON — EASTER: Celebrant: Alleluia! The Lord is risen indeed. Come let us adore Him. Alleluia!

Celebrant: Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Alleluia! Alleluia! ALL: And blessed be His Kingdom, now and forever. Amen. Alleluia!

Alleluia!

Celebrant: Blessed Lord and Father, ALL: we have assembled in Your Name and in fellowship with one

another. Enable us by Your grace to offer the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; to proclaim and respond to Your Holy Word. Teach us to pray for Your world and Your Church. Grant that we, confessing our sins, may worthily offer to You our souls and bodies as a living sacrifice and eat and drink of Your spiritual food in this Holy Sacrament. Amen.

COLLECT FOR PURITY: ALL: Almighty God, to You all hearts are open, all desires known, and

from You no secrets are hid: cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love You, and worthily magnify Your Holy Name, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

COMMUNION HYMN ………..……………………………………..…. A&M 555

COMMUNION HYMN ………………………………..…………………..… A&M 127

COMMUNION HYMN …………………………………………………...…. A&M 558

Please kneel.

POST COMMUNION PRAYER – FORM A: ALL: Almighty Father, we thank You for feeding us with the Body and

Blood of Your Son Jesus Christ. May we who share His Body live His risen life; we who drink His cup bring life to others; we upon whom Your Spirit shines give light to the world. Help us to continue in faithful witness to Your Word, so we and all Your children shall be free, and the whole earth live to praise Your Name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE BLESSING — EASTER: Celebrant: The God of Peace, Who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,

that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the Blood of the eternal covenant, make you perfect in ever good work to do His will, working in You that which is well-pleasing in His sight; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, be among you and remain with you always.

ALL: Amen.

O Jesus, Blessed Lord, to Thee My heartfelt thanks for ever be, Who hast so lovingly bestow’d On me Thy Body and Thy Blood.

Break forth, my soul, for joy, and say What wealth is come to me to-day! My Saviour dwells within me now; How blest am I! how good art Thou!

At the Lamb’s high feast we sing Praise to our victorious King, Who hath wash’d us in the tide Flowing from His pierced Side; Praise we Him, Whose love Divine Gives His Sacred Blood for wine, Gives His Body for the feast, Christ the Victim, Christ the Priest.

Where the Paschal blood is pour’d, Death’s dark Angel sheathes his sword; Israel’s hosts triumphant go Through the wave that drowns the foe. Praise we Christ, Whose Blood was shed, Paschal Victim, Paschal Bread; With sincerity and love Eat we Manna from above.

Mighty Victim from the sky, Hell’s fierce powers beneath Thee lie; Thou hast conquer’d in the fight, Thou hast brought us life and light; Now no more can death appal, Now no more the grave enthral! Thou hast open’d Paradise, And in Thee Thy Saints shall rise.

Easter triumph, Easter joy, Sin alone can this destroy; From sin’s power do Thou set free Souls new-born, O Lord, in Thee. Hymns of glory and of praise, Risen Lord, to Thee we raise: Holy Father, praise to Thee, With the Spirit, ever be.

Lord, enthroned in heavenly splendour, First begotten from the dead, Thou alone, our strong Defender, Liftest up Thy people’s head. Alleluia, Jesu, True and Living Bread!

Here our humblest homage pay we; Here in loving reverence bow; Here for Faith’s discernment pray we, Lest we fail to know Thee now. Alleluia, Thou art here, we ask not how.

Though the lowliest form doth veil Thee As of old in Bethlehem, Here as there Thine Angels hail Thee, Branch and Flower of Jesse’s stem. Alleluia, We in worship join with them.

Paschal Lamb, Thine Offering, finish’d Once for all when Thou wast slain, In its fulness undiminish’d Shall for evermore remain, Alleluia, Cleansing souls from every stain.

Life-imparting Heavenly Manna, Stricken Rock with streaming Side, Heav’n and earth with loud Hosanna, Worship Thee, the Lamb Who died, Alleluia, Risen, Ascended, Glorified!

Page 5: Bulletin-15May2011

Celebrant: And so, Heavenly Father, rejoicing in His Holy Incarnation, His Blessed Passion and His Perfect Sacrifice made once for all upon the Cross; His Mighty Resurrection from the dead: His Glorious Ascension into heaven: and looking for His Coming in glory; we offer to You this Bread and this Cup.

We pray that You will accept this sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; and grant that all who eat and drink of the Body and Blood, of Your Son, our great High Priest, may be renewed by Your Holy Spirit, and be one Body, one Spirit, in Him.

Let faith and love increase in us. Unite us with all Bishops, all other ministers of Your Word and Sacraments, and with the whole people of God, living and departed, whom You have made for Yourself.

Confirm us in holiness, that we may be found ready to join the company of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Holy Apostles, St. Gregory and all Your saints, when our Lord Jesus Christ comes again: forever giving You thanks and praise through Him from Whom all good things do come.

With Him and in Him and through Him, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we worship You, Father Almighty, with all who stand before You in earth and heaven, in songs of everlasting praise:

ALL: Blessing and honour and glory and power be Yours forever and ever. Amen.

Please stand.

THE LORD’S PRAYER: Celebrant: As our Saviour has taught us, so we pray: ALL: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name; Your kingdom

come; Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are Yours now and forever. Amen.

THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD — FORM A: Celebrant: We break this Bread to share in the Body of Christ. ALL: Though we are many, we are one body, because we all share in

one Bread.

THE INVITATION — FORM A: Celebrant: My brothers and sisters in Christ, draw near and receive the Body

which He gave for you, and His Blood, which He shed for you. Remember that He died for you, and feed on Him in your hearts by faith with thanksgiving.

ALL: Grant gracious Lord, that we so eat the flesh of Your dear Son Jesus Christ, and drink His Blood, that we may evermore dwell in Him and He in us.

THE AGNUS DEI: ALL: Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: have mercy on

us. Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us. Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: grant us peace.

PRAYER BEFORE COMMUNION Father in Heaven, You have made us for Yourself; our hearts are restless until they rest in You. Fulfill this longing through Jesus, the Bread of Life, so that we may witness to Him Who alone satisfies the hungers of the human family. By the power of Your Spirit lead us to the Heavenly Table where we may feast on the vision of Your glory for ever and ever. Amen.

5

THE KYRIE: ALL: Lord, have mercy; Lord, have mercy; Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy; Christ, have mercy; Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy; Lord, have mercy; Lord, have mercy.

THE GLORIA: Celebrant: Glory to God in the highest, ALL: and peace to His people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King,

Almighty God and Father, we worship You, we give You thanks, we praise You for Your glory. Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us; You are seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer. For You alone are the Holy One; You alone are the Lord: You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

THE COLLECT FOR THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER: Celebrant: The Lord be with you. ALL: And also with you.

Celebrant: Let us pray.

O God, Whose Son Jesus is the Good Shepherd of Your people: Grant that when we hear His voice we may know Him Who calls us each by name, and follow where He leads; Who, with You and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever.

ALL: Amen.

Please sit.

+ FIRST LESSON +

Reader: A Reading from the Word of God written in Acts 2:42-47.

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

43 Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. 44 All who believed were together and had all things in common; 45 they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. Reader: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God.

PSALM 23.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning is now, and shall be forever. Amen.

+ SECOND LESSON +

Reader: A Reading from the Word of God written in 1 Peter 2:19-25.

19 For it is to your credit if, being aware of God, you endure pain while suffering unjustly. 20 If you endure when you are beaten for doing wrong, where is the credit in that? But if you endure when you do right and suffer for it, you have God’s approval. 21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in His steps.

22 “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in His mouth.”

23 When He was abused, He did not return abuse; when He suffered, He did not threaten; but He entrusted Himself to the One Who judges justly. 24 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were going astray like sheep, but now you have returned to the shepherd and guardian of your souls. Reader: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God.

Please stand.

+ THE GOSPEL +

Reader: The Lord be with you. Response: And also with you. Reader: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John 10:1-10. Response: Glory to Christ our Saviour.

I know that my Redeemer lives: What joy the blest assurance gives! He lives, He lives, who once was dead; He lives, my everlasting Head!

He lives, to bless me with His love; He lives to plead for me above; He lives, my hungry soul to feed; He lives, to help in time of need.

He lives, and grants me daily breath; He lives, and I shall conquer death; He lives, my future to prepare; He lives to bring me safely there.

He lives, all glory to His Name; He lives, my Savior, still the same; What joy the blest assurance gives; I know that my Redeemer lives!

THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER — FORM A: Celebrant: The Lord be with you. ALL: And also with you.

Celebrant: Lift up your hearts. ALL: We lift them up to the Lord.

Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. ALL: It is right to give God thanks and praise.

Celebrant: It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give You thanks, Father almighty, everlasting God:

PREFACE OF EASTER:

But chiefly are we bound to praise You for the glorious resurrection of Your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; for He is the true Paschal Lamb, Who was sacrificed for us, and has taken away the sin of the world. By His death He destroyed death, and by His rising to life again He has won for us eternal life.

Therefore we praise You, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of Your Name:

Please kneel (at the conclusion of the prayer).

ALL: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might; heaven and earth are full of Your glory, Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Celebrant: All Holy and glorious Father, our Creator God. We give You thanks because in Your loving wisdom You brought all things into being, and are truly worthy of praise from every creature You have made.

Again and again we have turned away from You: yet in every age Your steadfast love has called us to return to live in union with You: for it is Your eternal purpose to put new life into all things and make them holy.

Through Your Son, Jesus Christ who took our human nature upon Him You have redeemed the world from the bondage of sin: and by the power of Your Holy Spirit You have gathered a people to Yourself, to make known in every place His perfect offering which He made to the glory of Your Name.

Hear us, therefore, Father, through Your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord; and grant that these gifts of bread and wine may be unto us His Body and Blood.

For, on the night He was betrayed He took bread, and when He had given thanks to You, He broke it and gave it to His disciples and said: “Take this, and eat it: This is My Body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of Me.”

And after supper He took the cup of wine: and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them and said: “Drink this, all of you: This is My Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of Me.”

Celebrant: Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith. ALL: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.

OFFERTORY HYMN — 7:00 AM …………………………………..... A&M 136

COLLECTION — 9:30 AM ………………. ST. GREGORY’S SENIOR CHOIR

THE PRESENTATION OF THE OFFERING: ALL: Praise God from Whom all blessing flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below,

Praise Him, above ye heavenly host, Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Celebrant Father, we offer You these gifts which You have given us; & People: this bread, this wine, this money. With them we offer ourselves,

our lives, and our work, to become through Your Holy Spirit a reasonable, holy, and lively sacrifice. As this bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, so may we and all Your people become channels of Your love; through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

OFFERTORY HYMN ………………………………………….... “BRING THEM IN”

Hark! ’Tis the Shepherd’s voice I hear, Out in the desert dark and drear, Calling the sheep who’ve gone astray Far from the Shepherd’s fold away.

Bring them in, bring them in, Bring them in from the fields of sin; Bring them in, bring them in, Bring the wand’ring ones to Jesus.

Who’ll go and help this Shepherd kind, Help Him the wand’ring ones to find? Who’ll bring the lost ones to the fold, Where they’ll be sheltered from the cold?

Out in desert hear their cry, Out in the mountains wild and high; Hark! ’tis the Master speaks to thee, “Go find my sheep where’er they be.”

Christ the Lord is risen again; Christ hath broken every chain; Hark! Angelic voices cry, Singing evermore on high, Alleluia!

He, Who gave for us His life, Who for us endured the strife, Is our Paschal Lamb to-day; We too sing for joy, and say Alleluia!

He, Who bore all pain and loss Comfortless upon the cross, Lives in glory now on high, Pleads for us, and hears our cry; Alleluia!

He, Who slumber’d in the grave, Is exalted now to save; Now through Christendom it rings That the Lamb is King of kings. Alleluia!

Now He bids tell abroad How the lost may be restored, How the penitent forgiven, How we too may enter Heav’n. Alleluia!

Thou, our Paschal Lamb indeed, Christ, Thy ransom’d people feed: Take our sins and guilt away, Let us sing by night and day Alleluia!

nervous, and easily frightened. For this very reason, shepherds use dogs to move sheep around and discipline them. An interesting aspect about sheep is that they maintain a flight zone, which is the space they keep between themselves and others. The flight distance of a sheep will depend on the situation and the meekness or wildness of the sheep. Sheep do not prefer to walk in water or pass through narrow openings, or routes. They like to move uphill, into the wind, than going downwind and downhill. Sheep are ruminants, with four chambers in their stomach. The first chamber is used to store quickly digested food, known as cud. It can be brought back into their mouths for chewing again,

before it is fully digested. Nearly one-third of sheep’s life is spent ruminating. Sheep are very selective with regard to their grazing habits. They have a split in their upper lip, which helps them pick the preferred leaves of the plant. Sheep see in color. An average sheep possesses a field vision ranging to 270 degrees. However, the amount of wool on their face can have an impact on their visual field. Due to their poor depth perception, sheep tend to avoid shadows or striking contrasts between light and dark. Sheep are known to posses an excellent sense of hearing. Being very sensitive to high frequency sound, they get scared by loud noises. *

“Very truly, I tell you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold by the gate but climbs in by another way is a thief and a bandit. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5

They will not follow a stranger, but they will run from him because they do not know the voice of strangers.” 6 Jesus used this figure of speech with them, but they did not understand what He was saying to them.

7 So again Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, I Am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who came before Me are thieves and bandits; but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I Am the gate. Whoever enters by Me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” Reader: This is the Gospel of Christ. Response: Praise To Christ Our Lord.

POST-GOSPEL HYMN ………………………………………..…. “HE IS LORD”

He is Lord, He is Lord, He has risen from the dead, and He is Lord. Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess,

That Jesus Christ is Lord.

You’re my Lord...

CHILDREN’S BLESSING — 9:30 AM ………………. “BECAUSE HE LIVES”

SERMON ………………. THE REV’D S. SEBASTIAN CAMPBELL

THE PROFESSION OF FAITH: THE NICENE CREED: ALL: We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven

and earth, of all that is seen or unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered, died and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in

God sent His son, they called Him, Jesus; He came to love, heal and forgive; He lived and died to buy my pardon, An empty grave is there to prove my Saviour lives!

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow, Because He lives, all fear is gone; Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living, just because He lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby, And feel the pride and joy he gives; But greater still the calm assurance: This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river, I'll fight life's final war with pain; And then, as death gives way to vict'ry, I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!

glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father. With the Father and the Son He is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

INTERCESSIONS …………………………..……………..…………… FORM F Leader: Let us pray for the Church and for all people according to their needs.

Lord in Your love, ALL: Hear our prayer.

ALL: That our people may dwell in peace.

ALL: Grant them peace and eternal life.

Leader: We thank You, heavenly Father, for the witness of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour; for the holy Patriarchs, Prophets, Apostles and Martyrs; and all the Saints who have been good examples in their several generations.

Leader: And finally let us pray for our own needs and those of others. ALL: Accept our prayers and intercessions, Father, according to Your

wisdom, for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

ACT OF PENITENCE: Celebrant: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in

us. If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Let us therefore confess our sins. Please Kneel.

ALL: Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, we have sinned against You

As a part of our celebrations commemorating the establishment of our Diocese 150 years ago, each Anglican is called upon to make a sacrificial offering to God for the advancement of His Church, and the wider community. The Anglican Thank Offering calls on each one of us to give according to our ability during the celebration year 2011. Sixty percent (60%) of the Offering will go to assist in the ministries and programmes of the Diocese, with 20% going to assist with social outreach and educational programmes of our church, and 20% will be used in your local parish in its programmes and ministries.

Each adult person is encouraged to give in the amounts as follows:

• Persons may give using special envelopes provided at their local parish.

• Persons may give using post dated cheques and given at their local parish. (Cheques are to be made payable to “The Anglican Thank Offering”.)

• Persons may give using their credit or debit card online at the Diocesan website - www.bahamas.anglican.org.

• Persons may use the facility provided on the Diocesan website - www.bahamas.anglican.org, to contribute via Bill Pay through their local commercial bank.

Registration for the Anglican Thank Offering can be done in two ways:

• By filling out a triplicate pledge form at your local parish.

• Electronically via the Diocesan Website - www.bahamas.anglican.org.

The Anglican Thank Offering begins on Sunday, 6th March, 2011 and ends on Sunday, 29th January, 2012.

Our Church has led the way in uplifting and building the spiritual and national life of the Bahamas and The Turks and Caicos Islands. God has wonderfully blessed us over these many years, and we have so much to give God thanks for. No better way to do this than to give a meaningful gift back to God, to enhance and to make stronger the mission and ministry of our Diocese, our local Parish and the wider community to equip them in meeting the challenges ahead. Your generous support is prayerfully requested. *

Complete Package

The complete package refers to our ‘tools’ for worship. This package includes: Book of Common Prayer, Hymn Book and Bible. For us to move to the next level in our Spiritual quest it will be helpful to invest in the complete package. This will be most helpful in the teaching/learning environment we now seek to enhance. The ideal is to have all members of the family make such and investment.

We Anglicans have been known as the “People of the Book”, where literacy is a hallmark. The Usher Board is to sell us, at a reasonable rate, special St. Gregory’s churchy bags to assist in the carrying around of our books. So your books are always packaged; just pick up the pack when leaving home and you are covered.

The Prayer Book comes into full gear as of the first Sunday in June. The new hymn book we begin to use as of July. The Bible we use in our every worship for teaching and preaching as of now. The Good News will be our official edition; you are free to follow in other translations of your choice. Always buy a Bible with the Apocrypha. Hymn and Prayer Books are available at both the Church and Diocese Offices.

So please secure your complete package. Allow me to say special thanks to all who have and still intend to give towards the love offering given as a gift, to the parish priest at Easter. Remember, this is done through the Special Easter Envelopes and the loose collection. It is much needed and much appreciated.

Adult Baptism

We are still accepting application for adults desirous of baptism. We have received two applications thus far. We hope to set a time early in June. Please consult the ushers or the office for applications.

Teaching

Walk Through the Bible Series; will be our study plan for Wednesday evenings 7pm-8:30pm. It will always end with Mass. Ultimately this will take us through the entire Bible and will take about five years to complete.

Anglican Doctrine; will be our course of study on Sunday evenings at our Evensong. We will explore in detail what we believe as Anglican Christians. This course never ends.

Please come encourage others to come and let us all teach and learn together.

Ministries Out-The-Gate

Wednesday past we had a preliminary meeting for those interested in Pastoral Care and Counseling, Family Life and Health Care, and Altar Guild. A number of persons have expressed interest in all three ministries and I encourage we begin and build on such interest. Any and all parishioners still interested can contact me or leave their names at the office.

Anita King has been appointed to lead in our quest with Pastoral Care and Counseling. Sheldon Morris and Celeste King are to be co-chair of Family Life and Health Care Ministries. Ellen Johnson is to give leadership with the Altar Guild.

Pastoral Care and Counseling will have a meeting on Tuesday 6pm at the Training Centre of the Public Hospital’s authority, Centreville. Family Life and Health Care meets on Thursday, 26th May at 7:30pm. Altar Guild will meet at an hour to be determined on Saturday, 21st May.

We pray God’s guidance on our way forward.
