There’s nothing untoward about the ANC’s new Mopani headquarters in Tzaneen, according to the Greater Tzaneen Municipality’s spokesman, Mr Neville Ndlala.
The Bulletin challenged the GTM to disclose details of the construction of the multistorey building, after numerous people had alleged that the building was actually erected illegally.
Ndlala said “the GTM would like to state categorically that all due processes with regard to the approval of both the rezoning and the construction of the ANC’s regional offices on Portion 1 of Erf 418, Tzaneen Extension 4 situated at 8 Second Avenue were stringently followed.
“The ANC appointed Jacques du Toit & Associates (Town & Regional Planners) to submit on their behalf the rezoning application of the property in question from Business 4 to Business 1. Business 1 zoning in accordance with the Tzaneen Town Planning Scheme 2000, allows the applicant to use the Erf for one of the following:
• Shops, offices, dwelling units, a hotel, public garage, a filling station, social hall, a place of amusement, service industry etc.
“Furthermore the following town planning controls are applicable: maximum of a 6 storey building. The application for the rezoning was advertised accordingly in terms of the relevant applicable legislation, which is the Town Planning and Town Ordinance of 1986,” said Ndlala.
He added that “the application was advertised in local newspapers including the Bulletin on 28 October 2011 under a section referred to as “legals”. It was also advertised in the Provincial Government Gazette on 28 October 2011, as General Notice 322 of 2011.
“Multistorey buildings are designed by Structural Engineers, therefore Architects become secondary in the process. In this case the ANC appointed Selmond Consulting and Associates to handle the project,” Ndlala said.

Dit is altyd as stemlo-kaal gebruik.

Outlets target social grants
The SA Social Security Agency (SASSA) is said to have received numerous complaints of business outlets which have allegedly targeted receivers of social grants. Beneficiaries are said to have lodged their complaints against institutions which are transacting loans, airtime vouchers and funeral policies to grant beneficiaries. It remains unknown at the moment which financial institutions are involved. SASSA’s provincial spokesman, Mr Zwanga Khutama, was unavailable for comment at our time of going to print.
Rife criminal behaviourPolice in Tzaneen have been very busy during the Easter Weekend, and arrested 199 people for various criminal activities: 21 for their involvement in assault, shoplifting, theft, fraud, possession of dagga and housebreaking. They also apprehended 39 people who engaged in robbery, possession of suspected stolen property, illegal gambling and trading. Another 139 suspects were nabbed for prostitution, reckless
driving, possession of counterfeit goods and for various offences in connection with the consumption of and/or selling liquor.
Suspected poachers nabbed
Two suspected rhino poachers, Christopher Gerhardus Botha (24) of Makhado (Louis Trichardt) and Louis Andrew Zeederberg (22) from Tzaneen, have been nabbed over the weekend after attempting to poach a rhino for its horn on a Letsitele farm.According to Limpopo’s provincial Police spokesperson, Lt Col Ronel Otto, the arrest followed after an anonymous tip-off. The police immediately barricaded the road leading to the farm and caught the suspects. The two men were apprehended and illegal firearms and ammunition, an axe and knives were confiscated
from the suspect’s vehicle. “The men were also not in possession of drivers licences,” said Otto. The suspects were released on R2 000 bail each. They are expected to be in court again on 28 May. Investigations continue.
Ritavi convictionsThree people were sentenced to a collective 33 years in jail in the Ritavi Regional Court last week. The 24-year-old Nick Pilusa appeared in court on charges of robbery and rape. He was found guilty and sentenced to twenty years imprisonment on both charges. In a separate court ruling, Neo Mboweni (21), appeared on two counts of robbery and was found guilty and sentenced to ten years imprisonment.
Fancy Moagi also appeared briefly in court for assault, housebreaking and theft. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment.
Police in Tzaneen busted four suspects who were in possession of five stolen
computers on Sunday afternoon. The computers were stolen from Bolobedu
Secondary School in February. The parents of one of the school’s pupils notified the police when they discovered an unknown computer in their son’s bedroom. The police swiftly arrested the suspects on charges of suspected stolen property. Const Glenda Maimele said “we believe that this discovery will lead to more burglary successes which were previously reported on.”

A LOVING HOME THAT REFLECTS SOUTH AFRICAN DIVERSITYConsider adoption as an option.
South Africa is a country with 11 offi cial languages, hundreds of cultural groups and numerous recognised religions. Every day, families everywhere are mixing up these ingredients to create this multi-wonderful nation that we know and love. If you are thinking of adoption, have you considered adopting a child from a different race or culture? Children are just children, no matter their biological background, and all children need a loving home.
Start your journey today by learning the facts with Add-option, South Africa’s fi rst national adoption resource centre.
“There is a big difference between the idea of cross-cultural adoption, and actually taking a little boy or girl into your home. We didn’t adopt an idea, we adopted Jenna! And from the fi rst moment she has been the love of our lives, exactly the same as a proud mom and dad would reach out for their biological baby at the hospital. The only difference is that she wasn’t born from our womb, but from our hearts.”

The Greater Tzaneen Municipality did not buy 24 tablets (small ‘computers’) from Game in Tzaneen; and for that matter did not buy any tablets at all. So says the GTM’s spokesman, Mr Neville Ndlala. His denial is contained in a complaint lodged with the Press Council, regarding a front page report in the Bulletin of 7 March this year.
The Bulletin accepts the assurance given by the GTM’s spokesman and we gladly tender an apology for publishing the wrong information. We obtained the information regarding the alleged purchase from a relia-ble source, whose credibility we had no rea-son to question. We also addressed a media enquiry in this regard by e-mail to the GTM, but they did not reply to this.
Ndlala later claimed that our enquiry was discovered in his Junk Mail after the Bulletin had gone on sale and we imme-diately offered to correct our report. We also need to put it on record that Ndlala called us on Friday 7 March when he men-tioned that our report was incorrect. We asked him to notify us in writing and we offered to publish a correction to this effect on our front page. We repeated our offer to him on the subsequent Monday when we spoke again, but we heard nothing from him until the Press Council informed us of his complaint.
A purchase of tablets at Game Tzaneen had indeed been made by a municipality and Ndlala confirms this in his statement to the Press Council. However, he re-frained from naming the municipality in question, and we have failed in our efforts to establish which municipality it was. We are still investigating the transaction.
The GTM did not buy tablets
Motorists driving along the R71 through Tzaneen on Thursday (the eve of Good Friday) last week received goodie bags filled with fruit in an Easter Arrive Alive campaign of the GTM and the Gteda. Seen here is Tzaneen’s acting mayor, Mr Dodo Mushwana, talking to a motorist and handing him
a goodie bag and some fresh fruit.
kate weer binne enkele ure verwyder, nadat dit snags aangebring is.
Is jy alleen?
Terug by alleen/eensaam. So waar is jy alleen?
My eerste reaksie is: die toilet. Maar met n huis vol mense, nou ja, hoe lank is jy af-
gesonder?
Is jy alleen of eensaam? Dink ‘n slag mooi
voor jy antwoord.Ek vetrou jy het ‘n
geseënde Paasfees ervaar.

Ons Mening
Years10

are concerned. Top per-forming school is Stan-
ford Lake College with a 100% pass rate. Merensky is in second place with a
98,9% pass rate — slightly down from 2011, when the school had a rather strong
(academic) group. Ponani Phumla Mabunda (left ) of Kwangulatilo High School in Giyani was the Mopani District’s top matriculant for 2012, with seven dis-tinctions. Orlando Chauke (who also took the photo) reports that she didn’t shy away from showing her happiness and excitement aft er she had received her results. She is one of Lim-popo’s top pupils and obtained distinctions in Xitsonga, English, math-ematics, physical science,
agricultural science, life science and life orienta-tion. “I have my parents to thank for my success. They provided me with the nec-essary support and study material to help me out during my studies,” she told Bulletin.• The collection of the information pertaining to the matric results was done by Bulletin’s Retha Nel, Beaunice Mnisi, Amelia de Ridder and Martina Jege. * Turn to page 3 for the full de-tails of the matric results of ten high schools in our area.

Dertien jaar gelede, toe hy nog eienaar van Spot On Spares in Modjadjiskloof was,

pak.

The department of education in Limpopo said Khudu High School at Loraine in Sekororo, which was destroyed by a heavy storm in 2011, has been placed on its emergency list and would be undergoing renova-tions soon.
This came after angry residents em-barked on protest marches in the past months demanding a new blocks of classrooms at the school and the con-struction of a shopping mall.
According to the provincial spokes-man for the department of education,
Mr Pitsi Maloba, the department, to-gether with the Independent Devel-opment Trust (IDT), will ensure that the school is given a facelift.
He said the IDT has, at the moment, appointed a professional consult-ant to make an assessment of the school and to establish what would be required in order to improve the school.
Maloba said after the consultant have completed the assessment, they would start with the renovations of the current block of classrooms.
“We are not happy with the state of two blocks of classrooms and we are considering building new ones,” he said.
Classes at the school were placed on hold each time during bad weather conditions.
This resulted in the community tak-ing to the streets to put pressure on the government to respond quickly to the problem which, according to them, has lasted for too long.
Kim Maritz, a Gr 11 pupil from Merensky High School, was awarded the first “golden bee” pin for service excellence.

Die uitslag is so
Daar was ‘n roerende, dog ietwat oordrewe
Dankie, manne.* Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen. — Winston Churchill
