It was a time to reflect and give thanks to those who gave their lives in the service of our country. The ceremony was conducted in a respectful and diligent manner. Our school prefects did an outstanding job retelling the brave and sordid stories of our fallen soldiers. On behalf of our school we would like to thank all Service Personnel who have served and are serving our country with courage, pride and dignity. We would also like to thank all those concerned who were involved in the organisation and performances in the Service. Lest We Forget. Pure Darkness, All Alone Pure darkness, all alone, My heart as heavy as a stone. Eerie darkness impairs my vision, As deathly gunshots slice the air with precision. Musty aromas seep through the air, As evil lurks in the shadows without a care. Hesitation bursts when asked to spare a life, But in the end they decide to fight. Pure darkness, all alone, Prisoners bow down at the enemies thrown. Brutal shouts of anguish pierce the night, Of startled men woken up for a fight. The horror of war entangles my heart, Like the ropes around me, impossible to part. The terror of pain engulfs my brain, And sends icy thorns through my prickly veins. Pure darkness, all alone, My heart grieves for lost friends I used to know. The icy fingers of desperation grip my soul, Only disturbed by the cry of a bullet hitting home. Fear and anxiety cloud the moonless air, As we realise there is not a cure for such deep despair. But now the darkness begins to fade, The soothing sun is my forever lasting aid. Pure darkness, all alone, There’s warmth among my skin, but deep down, oh so cold. Prickly darkness gnaws my mind in the back, The sun is up but the day is pitch black. By Dominiqua

Lest We Forget.
Pure Darkness, All Alone
Pure darkness, all alone,
My heart as heavy as a stone.
Eerie darkness impairs my vision,
As deathly gunshots slice the air with precision.
Musty aromas seep through the air,
As evil lurks in the shadows without a care.
Hesitation bursts when asked to spare a life,
But in the end they decide to fight.
Pure darkness, all alone,
Prisoners bow down at the enemies thrown.
Brutal shouts of anguish pierce the night,
Of startled men woken up for a fight.
The horror of war entangles my heart,
Like the ropes around me, impossible to part.
The terror of pain engulfs my brain,
And sends icy thorns through my prickly veins.
Pure darkness, all alone,
My heart grieves for lost friends I used to know.
The icy fingers of desperation grip my soul,
Only disturbed by the cry of a bullet hitting home.
Fear and anxiety cloud the moonless air,
As we realise there is not a cure for such deep despair.
But now the darkness begins to fade,
The soothing sun is my forever lasting aid.
Pure darkness, all alone,
There’s warmth among my skin, but deep down, oh so cold.
Prickly darkness gnaws my mind in the back,
The sun is up but the day is pitch black.

GERMAN NOTES
Guten Tag und Hallo. Mein Name ist Hannah Veit. I am from Germany. This term I will be working as a language assistant I will be supporting all German classes as well as W1. I have already had the pleasure to interact with most students. I am looking forward to this exciting term and having lots of fun here at Bull Creek. Bis bald! Frau Veit Yesterday, we held our first Extension class for this term. It was well attended and we had lots of fun playing games and putting our German to use. A big thank you to teachers and parents for supporting the annual German Day Out. It's a great opportunity for our students to meet students from other schools that also learn German.
