BUILDING STRUCTURES ( ARC 2522/2523 ) 2.0 INDIVIDUAL PROPOSAL 2.4 Design Proposal ( Surayyn Selvan & Yaseen Syed ) 2.4.1 Design Brief Our extension of the bungalow consists of an extended version of the bedroom and bathroom located on the ground floor level. An additional store room was added near the linen room and a porch was added to link the bedroom extension to the outside. Besides that, on the first floor the bedroom was extended and an additional family space for movies and games was built adjacent to the study area. A balcony was also built linking the additions together. Flat reinforced concrete roofs were added to shade everything but the balcony on the first floor. The materials used for the beams and columns were reinforced concrete and the walls were made out of brick walls. Dead Loads of Materials Used (Height X Thickness X Density ) 1. Brickwork = 19 kN/m 3 3m X 0.15m X 19 = 8.55 kN/m 2. Reinforced Concrete = 24 kN/m 3 0.3m X 0.15m X 24 = 1.08 kN/m Dead Loads (Slab Thickness X Dead Loads) 1. 2.4.1 Design Brief
