o You lose power? o A tree falls on the house? o There is a brown out during a heat wave? o A power line is down in the street? o You have to evacuate your home? o Where will you get information? o Who will you call for help? o When will you leave home? o How will you transport your pets?

BEING PREPARED ACTIVITY Thinking about the kind of issues we may experience, can each table discuss and come up with 3 priorities for getting ready for:
o Heat wave
o Storm – destructive winds, rain, flash flooding, hail, lightning strikes

TAKING CONTROL o Many people experience anxiety during
extreme weather especially if they are unsure what will happen and what they should do.
o Thinking through the ‘what ifs’ and preparing ahead of time will help you take back control when the power goes out.
