We love this home. It is as charming and comforting as our friends who live within it. We knew from the beginning of planning for the addition that the old porch, a blend of styles that was weathered and worn, would need to be improved. The design evolved from the front door replacement, a traditional mission style in a welcoming yellow tone. The door is

contrasted by the continuation of grey tones in the trex boards of the floor and stairs. The simple craftsman style of the railings and posts once again tie-in with the door style. All is painted white to match the contrasting trim of the rest of the home. A shocking transformation from the original white house with green trim which it had once been.

Build DesignSome great design projects were underway this year. Many have been in the design stages for several months so it is exciting to see the concepts becoming reality. We designed a kitchen addition to a tudor revival with a traditional belvedere atop. We have also designed a sympathetic board and batten addition to a historic brick farm house. As well, a number of interior designs for kitchens and baths in classic styles for local heritage homes.

Interior finishes include cabinets, tile and flooring. Exterior finishes include brick, concrete and landscaping.

Farmhouse kitchen with contemporary flairA smaller kitchen can be beautiful and functional when thoughtfully updated. Our clients wanted a useful modern space that would still reflect their home's farmhouse roots. We designed a contemporary country style with clean white shaker cabinets, dark gray granite tops, beveled subway tile and even a built-in space for the family dog to dine. Top of the wishlist was an apron front sink similar to one the owner recalls her grandmother bathing her in as a toddler. She now has a fantastic kitchen where she can create new memories with her own family.

We are gathering profiles and designs of vintage mouldings from around the province, and are amazed at the thought that went into the design and craftsmanship in the past execution of interior woodwork. The shapes and proportions are much more elegant than the standard off-the-shelf profiles which are available today. With some direction from the past, and the help of a local millwork shop that runs affordable custom profiles, we can offer a trim package for your Queen Anne or your 70's ranch that will transform and unify the interior. Doors, crown mouldings, casings, baseboards, wainscotting, chair rails; painted or stained; contemporary or traditional; we have the design expertise and resources to make your homes interior sing.
