Cleek Brothers Hardware

The building was originally built in 1912 as a hardware store, known as Cleek Brothers Hardware.

First State Bank of Panhandle

Later, the building was converted into the First State Bank of Panhandle, of particular interest is the bank vault that was added when this conversion took place. (This vault still remains in the steakhouse to this day.)

Frank A. Paul

Frank A. Paul was the founder of the First State Bank of Panhandle where he and his family helped

others with their finances.

Hendrix Drugstore

The building housed the Hendrix Drugstore next which was owned and operated by Buffalo Grass’s previous owner’s ancestors.

Continental Trailways Depot

The building then served as a Continental Trailways Depot until 1963 when the building was vacated.

Buffalo Grass Steakhouse

The building was brought back to prominence in 2005 as the Buffalo Grass Steakhouse where it remains today.

The steakhouse has switched owners too many times to count,

but continues to thrive as it is truly in its

prime.
