Row 1 and all wrong side rows : sl 1, purl to last st, sl 1 Row 2: Increase 1 st at each end of row (5 sts)
Row 4: increase 1 st at end of row (6 sts) Rows 6, 8, 10: knit to last 2 sts, k2tog
Row 12: cut yarn and pull through remaining 3 sts
Right wing:

To knit penguin puppet:
To knit snowman puppet:
1. With US 3/3.25mm double pointed needles, cast on 16 sts and join in the round.
Knit 20 rows. To shape top, K2TOG around (8 sts remain), cut yarn and pull tightly
through remaining sts. Secure to the inside of the puppet.
2. Knit hat as per elf puppet instructions.
3. For beak, knit a 4 stitch i-cord for 2 rounds, cut yarn and pull through stitches. Sew
to front of puppet.
4. For tummy, cast on 6 sts and knit 6 rows in stocking stitch. Decrease 1 stitch at the
beginning and end of the next 2 rows and cast of remaining stitches. Using tail
ends, sew to front of puppet.
5. For wings, cast on 3 stitches and shape as per the table below. Sew cast on edge to
sides
1. With US 3/3.25mm double pointed needles, cast on 16 sts and join in the round.
Knit 20 rows. To shape top, K2TOG around (8 sts remain), cut yarn and pull tightlythrough remaining sts. Secure to the inside of the puppet.
2. For hat, cast on 32 sts and join in the round. Purl 1 row. On next row, K2TOG around
(16 sts remain). Knit 7 rounds. To shape top, purl 1 row, knit 2 rows, cut yarn and pull
through stitches. Fold brim to shape and sew base of hat to top of snowman.
3. For beak, knit a 2 stitch i-cord for 3 rounds, cut yarn and pull through stitches. Sew
to front of puppet (save yourself some weaving in of these ends by simply tying
them into a square knot on the inside of the puppet and securing it with a dab of
clear nail polish.
4. For scarf, cast on 30 sts and cast off on next row. Tie around puppet (best to do thiswhile it is on your finger to ensure it is not too tight) and use tails to sew to puppet.
1. For box, cast on 18 sts with US3/3.25mm needles. Work 12 rows in stocking stitch. On next
wrong side row, knit across. Cast off all stitches. Sew sides and bottom to front of sweater.
2. For lid, cast on 18 sts. Knit 2 rows. Cast off all stitches and sew to front of sweater at a slight
angle
3. For bow, cast on 8 sts. Cast off. Fold in half and sew middle to the lid.
4. If desired, use a contrasting yarn to embroider gift box.
To knit ski slope pocket :1. For large mountain, cast on 26 sts. Continue in stocking stitch decreasing one stitch at the begi
ning and end of every 4th row two times, then every 2nd row 4 times (10 sts remain). Decrease
one stitch at the beginning and end of every row 2 times. Cast off remaining 6 sts.
2. For small mountain, cast on 20 sts. Continue in stocking stitch decreasing one stitch at the be-
ginning and end of every 4th row two times, then every 2nd row 3 times (10 sts remain). Decrea
one stitch at the beginning and end of every row 2 times. Cast off remaining 6 sts.
3. Using tails, sew mountains to front of sweater with the large mountain overlapping the smaller
one by 1.5 inches. Leave opening at the sides facing the centre to create a pocket for your budd
4. For evergreen trees, cast on 6 sts. Working in stocking stitch, decrease 1 st at beginning and en
of every 4th row two times. Cut yarn and pull through remaining sts. Make as many as you like
and sew to slopes.
To knit igloo pocket :
1. Using light blue yarn, cast on 25 sts. Row 1 (right side): knit Row 2: switch to white, [sl1, p5] 4 times, sl1 Row 3: [sl1, p5] 4 times, sl1 Rows 4: [sl1, k5] 4 times, sl1 Row 5: [sl1, p5] 4 times, sl1 Row 6: switch to blue and purl across Row 7: knit Row 8: switch to white, sl1, p2, [sl1, p5] 3 times, sl1, p2, sl1 Row 9: sl1, p2, [sl1, p5] 3 times, sl1, p2 Row 10: sl1, k2, [sl1, k5] 3 times,sl1, k2, sl1 Row 11: sl1, p2, [sl1, p5] 3 times, sl1, p2 Row 12: switch to blue and purl across Row 13-18: same as rows 1 to 6 Rows 19: k6, cast off 14 sts, cast on 14 sts and k to end (this will create a large button hole foryour buddy to sneak into)

2. To knit north pole, work a 5 stitch i-cord purlwise in alternating 1 row stripes for 1.5 inches. Cutyarn and pull through sts. To make ball on top, cast on 16 sts, knit 1 row then purl 1 row. Cutyarn and pull through all stitches, sew ball to top of pole near igloo.
