What will I study?
This seven unit course follows a very practical programme of study and will offer a sound understanding of Art and Design. Students will develop areas of 2D design, art history, photography, graphic design and creative IT. Progress is assessed by regular tutorials and ongoing assessment of assignment work and special projects. There is ample opportunity to take part in educational visits.
How will I be assessed?
Formal assessment will take place on completion of projects. There are seven units in total, two are externally set and the remaining five are internally set.
Where will this course lead me?
The BTEC First Certificate is ideal preparation for further study. Most students who achieve a Merit grade overall, could progress to an A level or BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Art and Design at the College. Alternatively students may enter related employment.
Progression to Level 3 Courses at St John Rigby College is dependent upon meeting the entry requirement for that course.
