The preparation and organization of this sale would not have been possible without the help from many close friends and great cattlemen. Frank Bruning always says, “You’re only as good as the people you surround yourself with,” and we know that holds true as we have some exceptional friends and neighbors that we can not say “thank you” enough to: Tyler Hartwell, Jake Bruss, Trevor Birky, Cory Voss, Calvin Dix, Michael Cox DVM, Kirk Willoughby, Tim Hochstetler, David Lee, and Andrew Dorn. Grandpa Frank also occasionally mentions, “It’s hard to soar with the eagles when you’re surrounded by turkeys...”

If you look at the progeny of Connealy In Focus 4925 and rank them by end product, you will find that ‘C08’ stands 17th for $B, and of those 17 sons, this bull is the first son that is double digit CED. He stems from an elite calving ease 1023 daughter that is front pasture material. This moderate milk female is perfect uddered, positive $EN and produces a scale crusher time and time again. Like his father, this bull will sire moderate framed, deep-ribbed, functional cattle but perhaps his biggest claim to fame may be the
females that he leaves behind. C08 should be an udder improver. C08 is the top 1% $W and $B, top 2% WW, top 3% RE.

This select group of heifers was purchased out of the sandhills of Nebraska shortly after weaning. They were developed on a diet of corn stalks, native grass, and very little protein supplementation to gain 1.1lbs per day through 45 days post breeding, in order to ensure a long, reproductively efficient presence in the herd.Synchronized and artificially bred, the sire of all calves offered is Barstow Final Answer W73 whom is represented heavily throughout the production sale. W73 has made given us excellent progeny both males and females, as you have seen, and we feel the heifer calves offered will be replacement quality. Heifers were administered their second shot of ScourGuard two weeks prior to calving. Calves are roughly 1 month of age and bulls are still intact. They are tagged with their own individual numbers on the bottom, and their
dam’s above theirs. They are also given a tattoo in each ear matching the bottom tag number.

Ranking in the Top 1% of the Angus breed for 7 traits of merit, Prophet provides genetic advantages for every segment of the industry.
GAR PROPHET
One of the most popular sires in the Angus breed, and for many good reasons. Consensus 7229 recorded a birth weight of 71 lbs. to ratio 97, an adjusted weaning weight of 817 lbs. to ratio 114 and an adjusted yearling weight of 1,420 lbs. to ratio 116, while posting an IMF score of 6.03 to ratio 134 and a REA measurement of 14.0 to ratio 104. C A LV I N G E A S E D I R E C T (C E D ) is expressed as a difference in percentage of unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers.

M AT E R N A L M I L K E P D (M I L K ) is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability.
C O W E N E R G Y VA LU E ($E N ), expressed in dollar savings per cow per year, assesses differences in cow energy requirements as an expected dollar savings difference in daughters of sires. A larger value is more favorable when comparing two animals (more dollars saved on feed energy expenses). Components for computing the cow $EN savings difference include lactation energy requirements and energy costs associated with differences in mature cow size.
