The library’s Summer Reading Program is 100% support- ed by donations from people just like you who realize how books and exciting programs can instill a lifelong love of learning and reading. Summer Reading keeps kids reading and actively engaged during the summer months. Learning loss occurs when children lack learning challenges during summer break and fall into the “summer slide.” The library prevents summer slide by providing fun and engaging learning activities for children of all ages. All it takes is $10 to sponsor one child in Summer Reading. We cannot do it without you. Get in the game and give on our website at www.jvbrown.edu, or by returning the card you receive in the mail. Are you ready? On your mark, get set and READ this summer at the library! Teen Program Series “Make Some Money” will be presented from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8 and will focus on resume writing, career mapping, job-hunting skills and interviewing tecniques. Grant Recipient Pearls with a Passion The Library is the grant recipient from the First Community Foundation Partnership’s Pearls with a Passion group. Thanks to these funds, the library can add inclusive music programming to better serve families with special needs. Music, song and dance also provide wonderful opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to interact and cooperate with people who do not have the same challenges. Miss Nina and the Youth Services staff are excited to incorporate these new instru- ments into their programming including, jembe drums, percussion instruments, digeridoos and more! Mark your calendar! On Wednesday, March 9th at 6:00 PM through 11:59 PM on Thursday, March 10th visit jvbrown.edu or www. raisetheregion.org and donate to the James V. Brown Library.
