Nirma Education & Research Foundation

In 1994, the founder of Nirma Group of Industries and an

internationally famous entrepreneur Padmashri Dr. Karsanbhai K.

Patel crystallized his long cherished dream of providing world-class

facilities for professional education in Gujarat. He established

Nirma Education & Research Foundation (NERF) which in turn

established leading Institutes like Institute of Technology in 1995,

Institute of Management in 1996, Institute of Diploma Studies in

1997, Institute of Pharmacy in 2003, Institute of Science in 2004

and Institute of Law in 2007 within a span of sixteen years.

The establishment of the Nirma University in April 2003 was a

natural consequence of the very high standards achieved by the

first three institutes. Now one more significant step has been taken

as. Institute of Law (ILNU), from the commencement of the

Weekly Report

Academic Orientation

How to Study:

Lecture notes/handouts, submission of assignment, are sent via intra-network and goggle groups.

Time Management:

Time allocation and management is essential for the satisfactory handling of academic work. Naturally, priorities should be set according to the needs, with more time allocated to higher priorities.

Study Time:

The academic pursuit should be the highest priority for the students so they should ensure that it gets most attention and the best hours of the day.

It is suggested that a specific number of hours per week should be devoted for self study. Students should spend approximately three hours per week per subject. Students can maximize the benefit of lectures by adopting the following techniques:

¡ Before the lecture, preliminary reading is advised to get a general idea of the topic and become familiar with the legal terminology.

¡ During the lecture one must pay attention in order to understand the basics of the topic taught in the class. Active participation of the students is encouraged to make teaching – learning process more interactive and effective.

¡ Regularly take concise and systemic lecture notes. The essential components of each lecture notes must have the main topic with subordinate points, specifically judicial pronouncements and relevant sections of Acts/ Legislation.

¡ At the end of the lecture, conceptualize the lecture notes. This will help in learning the material when reviewing it (as soon as possible – the same night is recommended).

Assessment & Evaluation Scheme:

Nirma University has provided for a credit based evaluation system. It is devised to motivate students for systematic and continuous study. Term assignments, clinical course and project work are very essential elements for courses and assessment. Moreover, there is a Mid Semester Examination, Block Semester Examination and a Semester End Examination for subjects in every semester. The remedial sessions are conducted whenever necessary for supplementary learning activities.
