I have had the opportunity to hear the speeches during a practice on Tuesday and would like to congratulate each and every one of them for the quality of their speeches. Last week 54 students attended the Goulburn celebrations for the International Day of People with a Disability. It is a day about inclusion. Our school representatives included our Student Council members and School Leaders. The students’ exemplary behaviour matched their enthusiasm and outstanding level of involvement in every activity. Thank you to the students who attended for being such wonderful ambassadors for our school in the Goulburn community. Thank you to students, families and staff for supporting our gift collection for students at Grenfell Public School. With the drought and fires, we know that it will continue to be a challenging time ahead for many. Thank you to Garry and Christiane for this caring idea to show our support for others, and to Garry particularly who had his Santa hat ready in the truck when he delivered the gifts yesterday! This will be the last newsletter for 2019 and I would like to wish our students and families a wonderful Christmas. I wish our Year 6 students all the very best for their move to high school in 2020 – I know Mrs Robinson is going to miss you! I look forward to welcoming our newest students as Kindergarten 2020 join us in the new year. To our families, I thank you for your partnership with us as we work towards providing your children with an enriching and supportive start to becoming the amazing young people of the future. Mini Fete Reminder that our Year 6 Mini Fete is on tomorrow (Friday 13 December) If you haven’t already purchased your tickets there will be a small amount available on the day

International Day of People with a Disability Celebration
Flag Raising Ceremony
On Monday 9 December, Goulburn East Public School held a special Flag Raising Ceremony to celebrate our
new flag poles. In addition to the Australian flag we can now proudly fly both the Aboriginal Flag and the Torres
Strait Islander Flag. Special guests included Alfie Walker who gave an Acknowledgement of Country in his
language and Mark Walker who played the didgeridoo while the flags were being raised. Members of both Pejar
Aboriginal Land Council, the AECG and Queanbeyan District Education Office were also in attendance. Special
thanks to Chelsea for leading the assembly, Summer and Sierra for explaining the significance of the flags and
Darcy and Brodie for raising the flags.
Country Women’s Association Scholarship.
Yesterday Mrs Cribb and I had the pleasure of witnessing Zara George being acknowledged for her
commitment and love of learning. At an afternoon tea Zara was surprised by the CWA representative who said
this award is highly sought and the last time a recipient from East received this award was in 2013. To receive
this award a student needs to show dedication and a willingness to push themselves to achieve success. The
recipient must also demonstrate they are a kind and generous person. Zara has demonstrated these skills all
year. Congratulations on being recognised for your efforts. Mrs Robinson
