Each workbench is equipped and linked to the others by means of a conveyor belt system which creates a product flow from and towards the users. These workbenches are mainly used for manual grafting and manual transplanting. Each workbench is served by three conve- yors, each situated one above the other, in order to create an incoming product flow (to be processed) towards the workstation and an outgoing product flow (already processed) from it.

i-ban Automated workbenches

Automated workbenches

i-banWhile grafting, which is the most spread use of this system, each user can

easily reach both the scions (conveyor belt no. 1) and the stocks (conveyor

belt no. 2) without moving from their positions.

Finally, the grafted plants are placed onto the back conveyor belt (conveyor

belt no. 3) which transports them at the beginning of the plant where the

plant coordinator operates.

At the beginning of the plant, in fact, there is an operator who loads scions

and stocks separately and receives the grafted plants in turn.

A single operator serves 12 grafting operators at the same time.
