NASS The Group is a well established industrial conglomerate and construction powerhouse encompassing a total of 34 companies and 6 associates having operation throughout the Gulf.

The Group started operation as a small civil construction and trading company in 1963 and has grown to become Bahrain’s well-known organization self-sufficient in the field of construction as well as associated sectors such as manufacturing, industrial, trading, marine transport, ship repair, crane services, offshore engineering, dredging, land reclamation and much more.

The breadth and diversity of the Company’s contracting capabilities can be illustrated with some of the main projects as follows:

Industrial Construction: Extensions of the Alba aluminium smelter, Bapco refinery, GPIC petrochemicals plant, GIIC grinding mill, BFMC flour mill and Hempel paint factory, construction of a sulphuric acid plant, iron palletizing plant and electricity substations. In recent years Nass has executed vital projects including Hidd Power Station, Al Ezzel Power Plant, the ALBA line 5 expansion and a Stainless Steel mill at Hidd several on a design and build basis.

Offshore: Widening of Manama-Muharraq Causeway, slope protection for the Sitra Causeway and Le Royal Meredien Hotel, construction of the urea plant conveyor line and marine jetty for GPIC, wall repair for ASRY, and the installation of eighteen kilometers of submarine gas pipeline for Bahrain National Oil Company (Banoco). The jetty and access bridge at the ALBA Calcining Plant was executed on a design and build basis with JV Partner, Christiani & Nielsen and large scale reclamation and revetment works have been completed at the New Port at Hidd and the Durrat Al Bahrain development. The 1.8 km quay wall at Hidd Port was completed in a joint venture with Murray & Roberts.

Water and Power: The division has extensive experience in the collection, storage and distribution of water supply, and undertakes the installation of pipelines together with the construction of elevated water tanks and pumping stations. The company is one of Bahrain’s leading specialists for drainage, sewerage, irrigation and ancillary works and is equally experienced in the field of underground marine installations of high tension power cables.

Buildings Construction: 14-storey highrise office tower in the Diplomatic Area, which now houses the Pension Fund Commission, the Award Winning Gulf International Convention Centre. The World famous Bahrain World Trade Centre constructed in Joint Venture with Murray and Roberts, and The Arcapita Bank Headquarters at Bahrain Bay.

Nass Central GarageOperates and maintains a fleet of specialized equipment which is tailored to the construction industry in all aspects. Machines and equipment are utilized on a daily basis.

The different types of machines consist of, Excavators, both wheeled and tracked. Front end loading shovels of varying sizes and configurations, Rigid tipping trucks, water tankers. etc. Many other types of machines and equipment are utilised on a daily basis and some specialized machines are provided for particular project operations.

The maintenance facilities operated by Central Garage include mechanical, electrical, welding and fabrication work and bodyshop facilities.

Scope of Works:Carried out design and construction of an offshore jetty head (226 x 21 metres) in 15 mtr water depth, connected to an existing causeway by a 520 metre long cross water combined road access/conveyor support structure and by a further 2500 metre long cross water conveyor trestle to the urea plant facility. The subcontract was challenging in both technical and programme aspects. The marine civils work consisted of a delivery and marine loading facility for bulk and bagged urea product. This new marine terminal can take ocean-going ships capable of carrying 60,000-ton cargo and is connected to the Urea Production facility by a 3.3km conveyor system.

The system comprises of some 30 primary sites, mainly key reservoirs and desalination plants and approximately 145 secondary sites, mainly district flow meters and the associated adaptation works.

The contract is divided into three pkgs:1. Water SCADA System,2. Telecommunication System3. National Water Control Centre Building.

The Project was completed on a 22,500 sq.mtr. area in Busaiteen. The construction work comprised of the four-storey hospital, in a three-block configuration separated by courtyards. Each block is connected to its

neighbors via two parallel sky-walks running east-west. The work also included the construction of a car park accommodating 951 cars and a Helipad on the second level, directly accessing the emergency department.

boutiques and the 5-star Sheraton Hotel. Gross floor area of 121,000m2.

The state-of-the-art twin towers of the Bahrain World Trade Center offers a world class business address in Bahrain. The twin towers are the first of their kind in the world, using wind energy to provide 11 – 15% of the electricity needs of the building. Wind power will be harnessed by three massive turbines, supported by bridges

spanning the space between the two towers, giving a dramatic look to the sail-shaped towers.

Developing the existing ‘Dohat Arad’ area with landscaping while creating a public walkway approx. 3.0km long with ancillary and recreational facilities in addition to roads, bridges, parking, amenities, lighting and other related services.

The Protectorate offers the longest walkway on the island along with excellent recreational facilities aimed towards safe family tourism. Pedestrian bridges were taken up after commencement of works on the main project. Bridge 1 over Khalifa Al-Kabeer Highway spans 45m and is distinctively post modernized, with its expanse of coated concrete, aluminum cladding, stainless steel wire cloth and access way.
