A few minutes away from the majestic Lac-St-Jean, on
wooden grounds by the shore of lake Ouiatchouan, the
ermitage saint-antoine is a destination appreciated as
much by pilgrims than people on an inner quest or travelers
seeking natural beauty and tranquility. Founded in 1907 and
animated by the Capuchin’s religious order, this national
shrine offers great quality logging (cottage, hotel, camping),
a restaurant and many more activities and services: guided
tour, heritage buildings, museum and works of art, walking
trail, the famous Kapatakan (trail) of Our Lady (a 215 kilometers
Compostela-style pilgrimage) and so much more. The
ermitage saint-antoine a must-see to discover... once more

OncE upOn a faith...Discover the fabulous story
of a man and his dream...
1. THE DREAM CONTINUES
In 1907, Abbé Elzéar DeLamarre founds ermitage saint-antoine, with a dream in his heart. A dream that keeps on
living thanks to the capuchins, present here since 1925.
2. VICTOR DELAMARRE
Possibly the strongest man in the world! The nephew of
Abbé DeLamarre, he accomplished a great feat at the age
of 26: with his left arm he did a devisse (counter clock
screwing move), lifting a 309.5 pounds weight. April 2nd in
2014 marked the centennial of this unequalled tour de force.
3. THE GROTTO
In 1912, Abbé DeLamarre finds a grotto that reminds him
of the one in Lourdes, France. He placed there a statue of
the Holy Virgin Mary. By this, the place became a shrine
dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes.
4. THE CALVARY
In 1918, a Calvary sculpted by Louis Jobin
and painted by Charles Huot is installed on
the grounds of the ermitage saint-antoine.
5. TIMELESS WORKS OF ARTCome appreciate masterpieces (statues, paintings, sculptures) of Louis Jobin, Charles Huot, Marius Plamondon, Blaise
Marchand, Guy Bruneau and many others.
6. OUR LADY OF LOURDES CHAPEL
In 1915, the chapel dedicated to Our Lady
Of Lourdes is built adjacent to the one
dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua at
the request of the pilgrims.

rEStaurant
Our restaurant, Le Campanile, distinguishes itself by its
shared menu and its table made of products from the regional
terroir. The shared menu is much appreciated by our visitors.
This friendly tasting gives you the opportunity to reconnect
with family or friends. During summertime, the clients of
Le Campanile can have their meal on our terrace, immersing
themselves in the sight of Lac Ouiatchouan. Bon appétit!
Our home-bakery, La Mie de saint-antoine, offers you
a good variety of daily fresh bread and mouth-watering
pastries. The bakery joins St. Anthony’s bread for the poor
charity founded by Abbé DeLamarre to its activity. When
buying some items at the bakery, you help ermitage saint-
antoine to continue helping the poor and needy and learn
more about poverty in the world and in québec.
