web site: site: www.aitem.org www.aitem.org e-mail: [email protected] [email protected] AITEM is a scientific association aimed to contribute to the development and diffusion of technical and scientific knowledge in the field of manufacturing processes, machine tools and manufacturing systems, including engineering materials and quality control. Production processes and information flows which characterize the product life cycle (from conceptual design to product development, from production to recycle) utilize manufacturing technologies and systems together with methods and tools for the management of production activities. Technological solutions (products, processes, distributed systems) must satisfy the growing requirements of competitiveness and global sustainability and therefore must be based on an high research content. AITEM works in the field of: Conventional and unconventional manufacturing processes on engineering materials; Material mechanical and technological characterization mainly aimed to the assessment of the linkage among final product properties and process operating parameters; Methodologies and tools for designing product, process and manufacturing systems; Manufacturing systems management and control; Quality management and environmental analysis for sustainability. What’s AITeM AITeM GOALS AITEM main objective is to develop cooperation between academic institutions and industrial partners, being the latter the main users of manufacturing technology. Therefore, AITEM aims to create a “Manufacturing pot” where universities and companies can join to make easier innovative technologies diffusion and transfer, to stimulate industrial research projects, to pursue, in conclusion, a global growth of the Italian industrial and academic system. Promotes the linkage between industries and universities through industrial research projects, stages, workshops, schools etc. Promotes academic research through the creation and the coordination of working groups, aimed to develop national or international research projects. Organises annually a meeting and every two years a conference to discuss the most relevant topics arising in the research and to present the scientific results of the members activities. Collaborates with other scientific and technical organizations, both national and international, with common goals. Organises summer schools for PhD students as well as workshops on specific topics. Manages the association web site: www.aitem.org The Italian Association of Mechanical Technology, AITEM, was founded in 1992. The number of members has been continuously growing; today AITEM gathers about 450 Italian researchers: about 150 of them come from the Italian Universities, 100 are PhD student, 200 come from Italian Manufacturing Companies.
