Spring 2013: 12 Weeks

This project was a semester long competition for the National Concrete and Ma-sonry Association. The site was located in Dumbo-Brook-lyn, NY. The competition was to design a Brooklyn Bridge Museum that incor-porated masonry units. My design focused on the idea of a museum as a threshold. The main threshold is em-bodied by the central glass circulation, becoming the “in-between” of two parts.

ARCH 231:Second Year Studio

The concept of this proj-ect was to design a House for a Musician on a sloped terrace in Bald Eagle State Park, PA. The main design aspect was to integrate your house into the terrain of the site. The program included an amphitheater, a lap pool, and a main music area for the client to play her piano. My design con-cept was to create framing views that looked out onto the lake. Through my design one can experience a dif-ferent framed view of the site at every point of the house.

ARCH 203:Buidling Constructionand Materials

Fall 2012: 6 Weeks

The main idea of this project was to understand the struc-ture of a geodesic sphere and to create a facade that ac-centuated light, shade, and shadow. Myself and five other teammates designed and con-structed a sphere with wooden dowels held together by the tension of string. Our fa-cade design was made out of a combination of transparent and translucent Plexiglas trian-gles that were hung by red strings and placed at random. By angling some of the Plexi-glas triangles at random we created a unique effect of light, shade, and shadow.

ARCH 231: Second Year Studio

The main concept of this project was to redesign the interior of a existing building in downtown State College, PA. The program was set to include a wine bar, wine cellar, and re-tail area for an Enote-ca. My main focus for this project was to incorporate my wine rack as a continu-ous wall from the basement to the ceiling of the top floor. The wine wall creat-ed a retail space to draw customers in when they pass the exterior of the build-ing on College Avenue.

Fall 2012: 4 Weeks

This project was a prelimi-nary exercises for our Eno-teca design project. Myself and three other students designed and built a flat pack wine rack that was based off a modular design. Our wine rack was designed to maximize the amount of variation of the wall. It was also based off of a limited amount of variation between the pieces. The final wine rack was con-structed out of one sheet of MDF with finger joints that required no adhesive.

The previous project was to reconstruct the Vil-la Savoye in Revit design program. Based off of that project our next step was to create a bird and bird-house that embodied the concept of our precedent. Using rhino, I designed a birdhouse that was based off a flat pack design.

ARCH 131S: Basic Design Studio

For this project, I worked with a group of twelve oth-er students to design and then build a display and shelving unit for the Penn State Learning Factory. As a group, we met with our client and discussed his needs. In the end, we de-signed a curved shelving unit with a display wall to exhibit the sponsors of the factory. In addition, we designed vinyl letter-ing that spelled out ‘The Learning Factory’ in the windows across the front facade of the building.

This project is part of a Green Dorm Room design project. Our chair design was to be based off a prec-edent, mine being Frank Gehry’s Wiggle Chair. My main conceptual idea was to create a chair out of re-used materials. I was in-spired by the idea of cre-ating a sustainable piece of furniture that was made completely out of recycled materials. My chair was made out of recycled corru-gated cardboard.

Fall 2011 : Six Weeks

The concept of this proj-ect was to create models in a unique way. This project is designing a room based off of a tale in the book Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives. My conceptual idea was to incorporate the functions of Rube a Gold-berg machine. Based off the tale, my model is meant to show a rein of power that starts at the utmost high-est point and falls down to the lowest.
