Aim
To raise young people’s awareness of health and safety hazards in the workplace
before they embark on work experience or their first job

A young person is seriously injured in a UK workplace every 40 minutes
In the UK, in the last decade, 66 under-19s have been killed at work
National Roll-Out

Entry Level Qualification
Accredited by QCA in the National Qualifications Framework
Approved under Section 96 for learners aged 18 and under
Fits into existing programmes of study for GCSE Science, PHSE, ASDAN or work-related learning
Provides a formal assessment outcome to the delivery of health and safety in the National Curriculum
Contributes to school performance figures (3.5 points)

In dialogue with QCA about fast tracking the qualification into the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF)

Free Assessment
Candidates collate a portfolio of evidence, internally-assessed and externally moderated.
BSC Awards has produced structured Evidence Sheets.
