BRING OUT THE BEST IN YOUR WPC: WITH GENIOPLAST ® MASTERBATCHES GENIOPLAST ® is a registered trademark of Wacker Chemie AG. 1 These figures are only intended as a guide and should not be used in preparing specifications. WOOD-PLASTIC COMPOSITES I SILICONE COPOLYMER MASTERBATCHES The market for wood-plastic composites (WPC) is growing fast. One reason is that the innovative thermoplastic poly- mers comply with two important trends of our times: they are sustainable solu- tions consisting of up to 75% of wood waste and they are very convenient, requiring almost no maintenance. With the new GENIOPLAST ® Masterbatches we offer a very functional way to further enhance the durability and quality of WPC whilst reducing production costs. GENIOPLAST ® Silicone Copolymers GENIOPLAST ® is a silicone copolymer that is especially compatible with organic polymers like polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (HDPE), lending silicone properties to the materials. In WACKER’s GENIOPLAST ® Masterbatches the silicone copolymer is already combined with the organic polymer, providing you with a ready-to-use additive. Better Processability GENIOPLAST ® Masterbatches influence the inner and outer friction of the WPC. Compared to organic additives like stea- rates or PE waxes, the throughput can be increased from 300 kg/h to 500 kg/h. Less Energy Consumption Thus GENIOPLAST ® Masterbatches significantly reduce energy consumption. Lower Formulation Cost This higher throuhgput can be realized with significantly less additive content, namely with 1% GENIOPLAST ® Master- batch compared to 2.5% of organic additives like stearates or PE waxes. This also allows a higher wood content. The polar urea group is attached via hydrogen bonding to the polar parts of the cellulose fiber and reduces the inner friction. The silicone chain is an excellent slip agent between WPC compound and extruder wall.
