Background

ELIF Business Solution LTD (ELIF) is a leading Zambian Business development support

services and marketing enterprise. ELIF was initially established in 2003 operating as Step

Out Media Communications Business Development and Marketing Consultancy services

and changed its operations to into ELIF in 2005.

ELIF's core business activities include Business Development and Project Support Services

with a concentration on information communication Technologies and enterprise

development. In 2003 – 2005, ELIF Business Solution ltd partnered with the International

Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) to develop, implement and manage

the Small Initiative Fund (SIF) scheme to support ICT based enterprises and implemented

for projects as follows:- Chawama Youth Project, Kalomo Women ICT Project, Ndola

Youth Resource Centre and Yes – Zambia ICT Project In 2005, ELIF was given an Award for

supporting Women ICT based enterprises by Manchester University of UK under a project

supported by DFID and nominated to be part of the team to develop an hand book on

Agencies supporting Women ICT based Enterprises, Kerala, Trivandrum, India August -

September 2005. ELIF since 2006 has partnered with the International Finance

Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group and COMESA to Implement the COMESA –

Zambia SME Toolkit Project. The SME Toolkit is a computer web –based business

information resource tool or portal with a focus on Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs),

Farmers and Businesses. Since 2008 we have partnered with the Kauffman Foundation as

the Country Global Host for the Global Entrepreneurship Network (www.zm.gen.co), also

known as GEN-Zambia. Since 2012 partnered with the Creative Business Cup (www.

creativebusinesscup.com) in promoting creative businesses and startups.

In 2012 we also developed the ELIF Poultry Products brand, which aims at creating a

poultry product market through processing, branding and packaging. In this initiative we

have also partnered with Pick n Pay chain stores to offer a country products market of our

whole chickens and four other portions ie; breasts, thighs, wings and others.

In 2014 ELIF partnered with former Startup Cup –USA in developing the WECREATE

Zambia centre for Women Empowerment, while also promoting National Economic

Diversification Initiatives and has since partnered with the Ministry of Tourism in

promoting the Marketing Zambia Initiative (a tourism strategy) from the initial Marketing

Africa Initiative. 2017 partnered with Partnered with the National Union of Small Scale

Farmers (NUSSFZ) in Farmers markets development and capacity building. Partnered with

HoDI Seeds & Grains with the Chungu Chiefdom in the promotion of Chungu Chiefdom

Sustainable, Forestry and Farmers market Development. 2017 part of the key contributors

the 2018- 2040 Zambian Tourism Development Master plan.

2017 and beyond exploring partnerships with a number of European Countries,

Institutions and private sectors with a view of promoting Zambia & African Countries,

Cities and Private sectors partnerships and peer learning missions with a view of

PREVIOUS ACCOMPLISHMENTS & ACHIEVEMENTS ELIF Business Solutions LTD and the CEO through the years has achieved a

wealth of experience and Awards in creative and Innovative Business, Project

Support services and marketing i.e.

i. 2010 -2012 Partnered with IFDC, ACTESA in implementing a

USD 1 000 000=00 plus country wide project for agro dealer development in

Zambia, training 1372 Agro dealers and Agents, Formation of the Zambia

national agro dealers association (ZANADA) and pilot Agro dealer accreditation

survey or inspection in Central, Copperbelt and Eastern Province.

ii. 2010-2011 Partnered with ZANACO Plc in the training of SMEs across the country

with about 250 SMEs in 2010 and 1500 in 2011.

iii. 2009 -Carried out training and capacity building needs assessments for

the Cross Borders Associations, Cross Border Traders and Border Institutions

in Zambia and facilitated the cross border traders strategic planning process and

workshop for COMESA.

iv. 2009 -carried out a visibility study for COMESA on the establishment of the

COMESA BABA centers of Excellency and value adding facilities in Zambia for

possible replication in the COMESA countries.

v. 2008 -carried out a visibility study for COMESA on the establishment of COMESA

simplified trade regime (STR) help desks for small cross border traders on the

Zambia – Malawi Borders.

vi. 2008 -Stockholm Challenge Awards Finalist, Stockholm, Sweden.

vii. 2008- presentation to the business and professional women congress in

Cairo, Egypt on SME Toolkit and business development support services.

viii. 2007 - IFC – SME Toolkit global partners Award winner for creativity in

development of local and regional SME Toolkit partnerships.

x. 2003 ELIF Business Solutions, then Step Out Media Communications partnered

OTHER ACTIVITIES 2017 AND BEYOND

ELIF Business Solutions Ltd –Zambia , and ELIF Organics Zambia Ltd starting the

2nd quarter of 2017 , shall work to foster and promotion deeper and greater

business partnerships and integration between Zambia and Rwanda , including

the rest of East Africa and Southern Africa on the other side.

This move comes with a lot of appreciation through the long term collaborations

and partnerships with the COMESA Secretariat which dates to 1997 during the

Launch of Chawama Agro Marketing Project (CAMP) where the Email:

[email protected] was birthed . This was Mr. Edwin Zulu‘s first Agrib-

business innovation project under the World Bank and Ministry of Agriculture –

Zambia 1994 -2000, as then Project Coordinator of the Chawama Women Club’s

Chawama Agro Marketing Project.

Therefore through the years , he has seen that COMESA,EAC .SADC ,ECOWAS and

indeed the AU , have put in place so many Business and Development Policies

and Programmes .

It with this background and our long term Vision of contributing to National,

Regional and continental development that using the social Entrepreneurship

model, values and principles that the that we continue to work towards

enhancing and catalyzing African Business partnerships and collaborations

towards enhanced Regional Integration, Intra and Inter Africa Integration and

African Social –Economic Growth and African Economic Emancipation by Africans

for Africa.
