• D-E Black® is recovered with less impact to surface area and structure

• Since the Carbon Black is recovered from used tires, it is a blend of sizes in the semi-reinforcing region of the usage chart

D-E is slightly less reinforcing than N550 which can be easily addressed with an improved CB balance

D-E has excellent dynamic ozone retention, above 25% replacement of N550

Conclusions D-E Black®

The D-E Black® is a viable partial substitute for virgin carbon black in the compounds that use semi-reinforcing carbon black grades

The material has minimal impact to properties and performance and can be applied to have equivalent tire performance with no or little tuning required

Based on the properties of the black and the compounds, Bridgestone plans to continue to expand the use of D-E Black®
