B&G asked Maria Buduo of Marias Fine Jewelry whats trending in
mens rings and gifts.
by Jennifer McNally Monac
leslieboudreau.com
Q: Often when you think of jewelry and bling, its the women who come to mind, but I see you have a great selection for men, too. Can you tell us about that?
A: Men dont always wear a lot of jewelry, so its important for us to make sure what they do wear makes a statement. A mans ring should be an expression of his personality, so we have an extensive selection of bands for the groom to choose from, traditional to contemporary. Alternative metal is very popular be-cause of the extreme strength of the materials used. By simply changing the metal of a specific ring, it can alter the whole look and it becomes a real reflection of a mans style.
Q: It seems like styles are always changing: gold, white-gold, platinum. Do you find one metal is more popular than another today? Are you seeing any other notable trends in bridal or wedding jewelry these days?
A: As far as grooms go, one of the biggest trends we are see-ing is with the alternative metal bands. In the past, gold and plat-inum were the most popular because choice was limited. Now, tungsten, titanium, seranite, and cobalt are all popular choices. In addition to the metals, there is a wide variety of finishes, too. We are proud to carry high-quality lines such as Lashbrook Designs and Endless Designs. At Marias we like to say, Your promise is our promise.
We have customers who have been coming to see us for thirty years and, in the end, its as if they all
become our family!

Q: Beyond the engagement rings and wedding bands, Marias Fine Jew-elry seems like a terrific place to find memorable wedding gifts for bridal parties, as well as specialty gifts for the bride, from the groom, and vice versa. What are some of the most popular wedding gifts today?
A: Here at Marias, my staff and I make our own unique jewelry, whether its for the bride or her bridesmaids, or even the mother of the bride. We make it right here on-site. Our customers come in and tell us exactly what they are looking for, and we help them get exactly what they want. We specialize in beautiful and unique custom pieces, perfect for gift-giving. Every woman should have something from Marias in her jewelry box! For men, we have cuff links, money clips, watches, and more.
Q: They say finding a terrific jeweler is like finding a best friend; once you find one, you hold on to them forever! Do you find that a lot of your clients are repeat customers who started with engagement rings, yet they turn to you again and again for lifes big events?
A: Yes, thats how its always been for us. It starts with the parents, and then their children become our customers, too. Soon, they tell their friends, and their friends, and it goes on and on. We have customers who have been coming to see us for thirty years and, in the end, its as if they all become our family!

The First EncounterTen years ago, an office romance sparked
between Claudia and Tony. Claudia was new at the company and Tony was sent from another location to train her. From there, a friendship grew and eventually blossomed into a relationship. They were together for two years before Tony popped the question. Their engagement was simple and romantic. The couple enjoyed a bike ride through Colt State Park, found a quiet and serene place to relax, and the next thing Claudia knew, Tony was on one knee asking her to spend the rest of their lives together. Claudia felt that, It was unexpected and perfect in every way.
The two were engaged for about a year and took their time so they could enjoy the planning process. Tony was just as involved in the process as Claudia and really en-joyed combining their tastes to create their magical day. Claudia described their wedding as an extension of their personalities that highlighted the special things within our relationship. The ceremony was held at the beautiful St. Mary Parish in Wrentham, MA. The newlyweds, family, and friends then celebrated the night away at Raffaels Ban-quet Facility. Claudia and Tony decided to have a small in-timate wedding, so they chose a venue that provided their wedding attendees with great food and a dance floor. The ballroom was decorated in gold and blush, which bal-anced out the couples classic and elegant style. Brides-maids donned blush/mauve chiffon gowns with a gem neckline embellishment, while the groom and grooms-men sported charcoal tuxedos.

One extra-special detail for the couple was their elegantly decorated cake, which was edged with rolled chocolate roses. All the small details added to the elegant af-fair, but the couples guests were the true highlight. The day was filled with the love and laughter of their closest family and friends. Family members flew in from all over the country to celebrate their union, and the couple could not have felt more blessed. Guests danced the night away
and took full advantage of the photo booth to create everlasting memories.
Claudia and Tony made it their mission to enjoy the planning process. For newly engaged couples, they suggest doing the same. Its important to have good memo-ries from the planning process to help you look forward together to your big day! So take your time, make decisions together, and try your best to work with profession-als that will make your day go smoothly.

Their StoryErin and Sean have had a connection since the day they met in 2009they just didnt know it. Erins sister, Colleen, was dating Seans best friend, Matt. For years, Colleen and Matt had been trying their hardest to set the two up because they felt that they were truly perfect for each other. But timing and relationships always seemed to get in the wayuntil the summer of 2012, that is, when the stars aligned and provided Erin and Sean with the chance to finally meet. They both knew immediately that Colleen and Matt had been right all alongthey did have something specialand from then on, the two were inseparable.
They have found a love that neither of them thought existed, and together they have enjoyed all kinds of adventures in travel, music, and ev-eryday activities.
Erin and Sean began talking about getting married at the beginning of their relationship, be-cause they both realized that their love was the kind that lasts forever. It was never a question of if they would get married, only when they would get married. Sean popped the question in May 2014 in a manner that proved to be consistent with the nature of their relationship: thoughtful, sweet, and full of love.
After a long red-eye flight home from Califor-nia, the last thing Erin expected was a surprise pickup at the airport from Sean and an extend-ed vacation. He whisked her away to the Cape, where they often enjoyed spending their free time. They arrived at Chatham Bars Inn where Erin was greeted with champagne, flowers, and an entire closet of new clothes. Wow! Sean pro-claimed that this would be just a relaxing week-end of dinners, kicking back, and watching the Bruins game. Despite an initial suspicion that this might be the weekend, Erin started to think it really was simply a romantic impromptu getaway.
Following dinner one night, Sean whisked Erin away to a private beach fire surrounded by two Adirondack chairs with wine and a cheese plate. Sean sat Erin down and explained the real rea-son for the trip. He told her that he had seen himself asking a certain question since they first started dating. It was then that Sean asked Erin for her hand in marriage. Just when she thought the surprises were over, Sean pointed into the distance and told her that there was also a pho-tographer capturing every moment of the pro-posal. (A must do!)
www.bridegroommag.com 27

Erin and Sean took a little more than twelve months to plan their June wed-ding. With a pretty tight budget and a knack for crafts, Erin created a lot of the smaller details herself. Because they had both grown up in Central Massachusetts, the couple wanted to keep the venue fairly local so that all of their loved ones could attend. A summer garden wedding was the inspiration for the affair, and the Harding Allen Estate seemed like the per-fect fit. The color scheme was grey, white, and yellow with handmade details that kept the wedding contemporary chic. The yellow billy-ball boutonnieres and white and gray bouquets added to this theme. Even their dog, George, who was also in the wedding, was adorned with a yellow bowtie. The table numbers, made by Erin, which doubled as guest books, was one
of the couples favorite features at their wedding.
The crafty details played a huge part in making the wedding a hit, but the most memorable moment was the honoring of the loved ones who could not be present. Both Erin and Sean took the time to honor those lost within the past few years. They set up a memory table, which featured photos of their loved ones on their own wedding days. What a beautiful touch!
Erin and Sean advise other couples to enlist the help of family and friends, and try and make the planning as fun as pos-sible. By assigning specific projects to cer-tain family and friends, you will feel less stressed and get the chance to bond dur-ing such an exciting time.

Their StoryAllison and Dave met at Endicott College where they both attended undergraduate and graduate school. Despite En-dicotts small size, the couple didnt meet until the week-end before finals of senior year. Allison has always thought this was fate; they didnt meet until they were supposed to meet. In fact, they have since realized that they sat in the same class freshman year, but never met!
www.bridegroommag.com 31
Allison first saw Dave at an intramural volleyball tournament the school was hosting. It just so happened that Daves team needed two girls to officially play, and from then on the pieces seemed to fall into place. Allison and Daves team won the tour-nament, and after that moment, they kept bumping into each other during senior week activities. The two instantly hit it off and quickly became friends. They soon realized they would both be returning to Endicott the upcoming fall for graduate school and were also both applying to be assistant resident directors. Their lives seemed to be taking the same path. Before they knew it, they were spending every moment togetherfrom grad classes to having the same gym schedule, but more importantly, they were falling in love.
On the day of their engagement, Allison noticed that Dave was acting strangely almost immediately. From the time they woke up, to eating breakfast, to the time he got home, she sensed something was going on. Dave suggested they go for a walk and get some ice cream, but Allison insisted they eat the meatballs she made for dinner before having any dessert. Dave willingly agreed and went upstairs to change. He came down in a much dressier outfit than expected. He claimed he wanted to break in his boat shoes, but couldnt do so while wearing gym clothes. It just wouldnt look right! The day ended up being cold and after getting ice cream, Allison didnt want to get out of the car and go for a walk on the beach. Dave tried everything to convince her, saying he really wanted to test out his shoes in the sand. Allison caved, certainly not suspecting that two of her friends were waiting in the dunes to take pictures. Eventually, they made it to the destination for perfect pictures of the pro-posal. Dave said, Stop, I have to tie my shoe! He proceeded to pull out the biggest box ever! The rest was history.
Allison and Dave started planning the day they got engaged (May 4, 2014), and set the date for exactly 16 months later on September 4, 2015. Allison had studied Hospitality Manage-

ment with a concentration in Event Man-agement, which made planning her wed-ding all the more exciting. She interned with wedding venues throughout her time at Endicott, so she was very excited to put that knowledge into planning her special day. Allison and Dave made a conscious effort to put their own personal touch on their wedding and to support small businesses.
Their ceremony and reception com-bined to create the best of both worlds.
Since their reception was held at the Misselwood Estate under a very fancy tent, the couple wanted to balance that out with a comfortable beach ceremony. The wedding party went barefoot in the sand while guests sipped on fresh lemon-ade. Cocktail hour was spent playing yard games, and the comfort theme was car-ried through to the food at the reception: ribs, Louisiana corn bread, baked mac and cheese, and more! The two chose the Misselwood Estate at Endicott College be-
cause it was where their love story began. How sweet!
The couple decided to forego many wedding traditions. They kept in the first dances, but instead of a traditional wed-ding cake, they had a delicious ice cream bar. They truly made this wedding their own. All of the centerpieces were hand-made, and in lieu of wedding favors, the couple made a donation to Autism Speaks. The ampersand symbol was a recurring motif throughout their recep-tion. During her planning process, Allison was inspired by the quote, Ampersand: a joining and continuation of infinity. The ampersand tells a story of how two joined solidly together can unite forever. This quote impressed Allison and Dave so much they included the symbol as a motif in their invitations, programs, and decorations. Their wedding day was filled with beautiful decorations and even more beautiful moments. Allison and Dave wrote their own wedding vows, which made the ceremony very personal. Dave creatively wove together many great love quotes in his vows to Allison. A truly memorable moment.

BEAU TIESB&G spoke with Weybridge 1761, President and CEO David Mutter about
how to tie a bow tie, why he loves National Bow Tie Day, and adding a bow tie to your everyday look will be imperative for the upcoming season year.
What are upcoming wedding trends for bow ties and neckties?
Two words: Bold or Classic. Wedding parties and we have worked with thousands of couples over the last few decades tend to pick one of two paths. Some couples are inspired by bold colors Deep reds, purples or Burgundies. While other couples pursue a classic approach with rich silvers or blacks. Weybridge is special because we have quality solutions regardless of the approach.
Do all grooms wear bow ties?
No. We work with hundreds of grooms who prefer traditional four-in-hand (long ties). A crisp blue tie like our Londonderry Blue is a great example of a tie that looks great for a groom.
An American Classic
troygrover.com
www.bridegroommag.com 35
Should the groomsmens accessories match the grooms?
Please NO! A pocket square should enhance a tie and com-plete an outfit. It should never match a tie. I always recom-mend grooms and/or groomsmen wear a white pocket square. The suit should be a single color (e.g. black, dark gray, etc.), the pocket square should be white and the tie should provide the color. Simple. Always in style.
Londonderry Blue Pre-Tied Bow TieClassic. A beautiful blue tie with rich detail and amazing quality, the Londonderry Blue is a timeless choice.
Londonderry Silver Pre-Tied Bow Tie:I love the Londonderry Silver. Its a traditional design with just a hint of contemporary character. Ideal for nighttime weddings.
Londonderry Red Pre-Tied Bow Tie: Bold beauty. This Red draws both attention and admiration. It catches the eye and wins you over.
Cambridge Pink Self Tie Bow Tie: A pink tie with a sprinkle of blue and white, the Cambridge Pink is the ideal accessory. It makes a statement without being bold or pretentious. This is the tie groomsmen wear long after the wedding.
Hancock Burgundy Self Tie Bow Tie: There are some ties that just work during the winter, the Han-cock Burgundy is one such tie. Its deep reach color completes an outfit and provides warmth even when the temperatures are low.
Montgomery Green Self Tie Bow Tie: You can never go wrong with a Montgomery Green tie. Such a classic. Every man should have this is in their collection. Wearing this tie makes you feel better.

Looking to discover whats trending in wedding cocktails? We assembled a team of experts to help you raise the bar in style.
Classic Cocktails, Rye Whiskeys, and RosWedding parties have always been a mixed bag when it comes to drinks. Weve seen a trend toward classic cock-tails and rye whiskeys. From Sazeracs to Manhattans, even a simple rye on the rocks, there is definitely a push on brown spirits. Oh, and guys drinking ros, that has been popular for whatever reason. Sparkling Wine and a Fancy FluteMomentous occasions, such as weddings, go hand in hand with sparkling wine and a fancy flute. At Bistro du Midi, we not only have selections of bubbles to fit any wedding budget, but we also work with the couple to put their signature spin on what can oth-erwise be a typical toast. One of the most popular selections at our nuptial celebrations is the Champagne Cocktail au Provence with Domaine Collin, Tradition, Crmant de Lim-oux, Brut, Scrappys Lavender Bitters and Fee Brothers Grapefruit Bitters. Randy Clutter, General Manager, Bistro du Midi
Blueberries, Beaches and SmoresIn Maine, its all about lobsters, beaches, and blueberries. Brides come here for a quintes-sential Maine experience, so cocktails with blueberries or a beach theme are a must. A favorite that gives a nod to the beach is our signature Smores made with Vanilla Vodka, Baileys Irish Cream, and Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, with the glass rimmed with graham crackers and chocolatea grown up version of smores to enjoy at the fire pit, which is open all year long. guests who prefer to have it shaken, not stirredthe Blueberry Martini is always very popular at the bar. Justin Doug-lass, Food and Beverage Manger, Inn by the Sea
Signature CocktailsSuzanne Miraglia, Mirbeau Inn & Spa at The Pinehills director of sales, who works closely with couples to prepare for their big day, has noticed that couples are opt-ing for signature cocktails to be served at the beginning of the cocktail hour/recep-tion instead of the standard champagne. Couples work with Suzanne and a lead mixologist to craft a cocktail that infuses their favorite flavors and liquors for a cock-
tail that is unique to them. For example, she recently helped a couple create a pear-infused cocktail, which they dubbed the Perfect Pair. Suzanne has also no-ticed a lot of brides are bringing back clas-sic cocktails, namely Martinis.
Sarah Santos, Mirbeaus assistant di-rector of food and beverage, has noticed an increase in popularity of fruit cocktails for outdoor weddings in the spring and summer months. Top choices include the Watermelon Hibiscus Margarita, Monets Garden Party Cocktail, Strawberry Lemon-ade, and the Passionfruit Mimosa.
DIY Champagne BarDIY champagne bar cocktails create a beautiful color spectrum based on the liqueur that is added, making it easy for a bride to tie-in her cocktails to the party theme and tablescapes. Bartenders and beverage directors at hotels note that cou-ples are gravitating to liqueurs because they are lower in proof and can transform a classic drink that people know well.
One fun fact about The Kings Ginger Liqueur is that the bottle bears with pride two royal warrants, one from Her Majes-ty Queen Elizabeth II and one from His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. It is the drink with which the royal family cel-ebrates all occasions, such as the union of Princess Kate and Prince William.
Wedding Drink Tips
Susan Lueker, SIMI Winerys director of winemaking, shares these unique wedding drink tips:
A unique serving option is to have the servers pour the wines using de-canters as opposed to bottles for spe-cial wines. This minimal swap is an easy way to add flare to your typical serving styleas long as the wines have not been decanted prior to pour-ing for too long.
Wine on tap is becoming widely popular. It adds a simple yet elegant touch, and makes for quick serving us-ing a new-age pouring system.
For a personal touch, varietals can be sourced from a meaningful region, such as a place the couple has trav-eled, where they got engaged, or the home town of the bride or groom.
Incorporate wine into the menu. Wine-infused desserts are certainly a trend and another delicious way to layer in grapes for serious wine lovers. And for the wedding cake, red wine lends a beautiful coloring for frosting.

odays grooms really care about making a statement, says Gina Lehrer, president of Bonardis Formal-wear. They have definite opinions; some choosing what they want before the bride has input. Throughout Lehrers 38 years of fitting, renting ,and selling formalwear shes, seen styles come and go. Whats changed is grooms use their attire to complement their weddings theme and vision . . . matching their look to their personality. Timeworn cookie-cutter black tuxedoes have been surpassed by charcoal grey and navy suits, paired with brown shoes she notes. This look is very hot right now.
Vests, bowties, suspenders, and socks in an array of textures and fun, bold col-ors are big, says Orlando Sousa, the New England zone operations manager for Mens Wearhouse. Personalized pocket squares and boutonnieres can range from dressy to rustic.
Boxy and baggy is out; slim fit is way in. A tighter fit and thinner, nontraditional lapels in grosgrain fabrics are trending. Men arent looking for shine, Sousa maintains. The overall style is modern, somewhat subdued, a bit less formal and totally individualized.

Grooms wishing to invest in their own formalwear can do so through the Mens Wearhouse Joseph Abboud line. Ben Rosol, the manager of the MW store in Hamden, CT, enjoys taking customers through this process. They choose from a wide array of fabric, fit, and details of their suits, sport coats, or separates, he explains, produced in the Joseph Abboud factory located in New Bedford, MA. Whats selling lately? Lots of wool, in midnight bluea touch richer than navy. He adds, Edged la-pels, classic linen for beach weddings, plain white French cuff shirts, and NO ruffles or wing collars. Bow ties, which have completely overtaken long ties as THE choice in neckwear, can become scarce during peak wedding season. So, plan ahead!

Another big influencer is the red car-pet. What celebrities are wearingand therefore posting, pinning, and tweeting across media platforms has a huge ripple effect. Even NFL football players arent afraid of having a perfectly manicured look, says Kristie Lee Laskes, owner/es-thetician of Nkd in Worcester, MA. Guys dont worry about being labeled metro anymore. Well-groomed is part of being professional. Mustaches and beards are all over social media; selfies and wedding photos are going viral.
Chris Then and his bride, Ivanna Mer-cedes, were delighted by the outcome of their Nkd pre-wedding makeup/grooming session. Ive always liked to dress well and look my best. Chris recalls, On the most important day of my life, I wanted to make sure I looked just right.
Men comprise 25% of Terri Radleys clientele at the European Wax Center in Westborough, MA. Waxing is definitely becoming more popular she says, espe-cially for eyebrows. Its the first thing peo-ple see . . . and will see in wedding pic-tures forever. For similar reasons, some men do their nose and ear hair; others
undergo chest and back hair removal for (ahem) their honeymoon. Radley puts them at ease by using a gentle Comfort Wax and offering a primary service. This way, the groom and his buddies wont have to set foot in a salon that ca-ters to females. We dont make the men look like women, but a better version of themselves.

His Turn to Party
by Cindy Papish Gerber
s there any such thing as a typical bachelor party? Not according to Dimitri Petrosian, a professional VIP host, nightlife/event planner and partner
with Bostons 6one7 Productions. He finds, that the standard bachelor party associated with gambling, gentlemans clubs and drinking marathons etc., has become atypical. Just focusing on New England, he says, there are definitely
plenty of options out there. At 26, hes attended a few small, mid- and large-sized bachelor parties, including two out-of-town destinations: Vegas (see p. 86)
and an outdoorsy North Carolina weekend where we attended a NASCAR race!
I
www.bridegroommag.com 47
Professionally, hes encountered a TON of Boston bachelor parties, which usually involve renting a hotel room, going to dinner, then a cigar bar, and a nightclub. Through it all, Petrosian maintains, the focus is all about orga-nizing something you think is best for the bachelor.
Traditionally arranged by the best man, brother(s), and maybe a few BFFs, key organizers need to plan the major aspects of the grooms last hur-rah: who, when what, where, and how much to spend.
According to Evite.com, All of the guys in the wedding party get an invite, but you can also include other close friends and family; just ask the groom to put together a guest list. Etiquette even allows inviting guys who arent in the wedding party, but dont let the guest list get too long unless the groom specifically requests it.
Next, send out a group email to determine everyones avail-ability and choose a convenient date. When appropriate, Evite suggests, inviting the bachelors dad and future father-in-law to the dinner portion of the evening. The same applies to younger, college-age guests. Montreal is a popular destination for young-er [18 plus] bachelor parties, or those with a few younger group members who they dont want to leave behind, says Rob Ciulla,
president and owner of Montreal Party Weekends. Theres little to do in Boston for the under-21 crowd, which is a reason our travel packages are very popular throughout New England. Plus, its just a short bus ride away, making it an attractive option for a quick getaway. The entertainment, dining, music scene, nightlife, culture, year-round activities (skiing, golf, water sports, hockey) and the trs bon US-to-Canadian dollar exchange rate all add to Montreals appeal.

thejohnlee.com
The Boston-based Bustonian is a one-stop shop for all bachelor partiesa nightclub on wheels, says Matt Robitaille, president and owner of both the Busto-nian and Boatonian. The bus goes from bar to bar around Boston (for six hours plus with three to five stops). We pick up and drop your group off at a desig-nated spot and set you up with clubs and bars so theres never any cover charge or lines. During May through October, sea-faring bachelors can set sail from Rowes Wharf on the Boatonian, which functions as a floating, three-hour booze cruise with live music.
Dan Fallswood raves about the great vibe of the July 2015 Boatonian bach-elor bash he attended. The live band was amazing, it was easy to buy tickets online, we had plenty of room to dance, and it was definitely a fantastic alternative to the regular bars and clubs, he recalls. I would absolutely do this again, bachelor party or not.
My Boston pick is the Stage Night-club, says Chris Haddad, editor of Mass-nightly.com. They have an exciting, private show called Viva La Vaudeville, boasting a one-of-a-kind burlesque/circus performance. After-hours, Stage turns into a nightclub. Their VIP service for a bachelor is the best in the city.
At the cutting-edge, Shrine Nightclub at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashan-tucket, CT, We offer a variety of customiz-able VIP packages for any bachelor parties looking to celebrate the occasion with us, says David Bolton, After Dark Promotions co-founder/operations and marketing manager. More information about Shrine can be found on our website at www.shrinefoxwoods.com.
Luckily, there are some VIP (Very Incred-ible Places) right in downtown Worcester. Chris Haddad recommends organizing a Shrewsbury Street bar crawl. Start with a great steak at the 111 Chop House or Via Italian Table, sample beer at Brew City, stop in at the Flying Rhino, and end with a dessert nightcap at Sweet.

The Barn at Wight Farmfeatured facility
erbphoto.com
n a region with a wide variety of wedding venues to
choose from, The Barn at Wight Farm is fairly new to the scene, yet
its quickly standing out from the crowd. Outstanding service, gracious
hospitality, unique styling, and an amazing culinary approach are at
the heart of why this new establishment was conceived by the Table
3 Restaurant Group. Table 3 is a game-changing ensemble of three
Sturbridge-area restaurants: Cedar Street Grill, Avellino and The Duck
each offering their own unique style and fare, from bistro food, to
traditional Italian. All the groups restaurants offer a comfortable atmo-
sphere that encourages exploration and the sharing of food.

Even though they are run by a single management group, each restaurant stands on its own merits. Collectively, these three restaurants have raised the bar when it comes to dining in Sturbridge, keeping true to the vision: A restaurant meal should be among lifes most mem-orable experiences.
The Barn at Wight Farm aims to follow in those footsteps and early indications say they are succeeding, with more than 40 weddings booked before the group even opened their doors to the public in June 2015. It was a highly anticipated venue, which is a testament to the Table 3 reputation, said Dakota Tunley, the
Farms sales manager.Beyond the exceptional food, attention
to detail and personalization are corner-stones of the wedding experience at The Barn at Wight Farm. From the moment a bride and groom meets with the group, they notice the difference. There are no cookie-cutter packages; instead, there are broad templates used as guides in the meal selection process. Couples are en-couraged to build their own tailored wed-ding and dining experience, adding whats appealing and omitting what isnt. We work closely with brides and grooms to customize their event. We invite individual couples into our restaurants for tastings
to experience dinner, plated exactly as it would be on their special day. Its intimate and personalized as they select each as-pect of the meal, said Tunley. She went on to say, Before we even get started, the chef comes out from the kitchen to personally meet the couple, and I join them as they dine, with my computer in hand, asking them not only how it tastes, but also how they feel about each dish.
From creative cuisine to traditional, The Barn at Wight Farm aims to please and loves a culinary challenge. Want locally sourced foods or something not on the menu? They can do that. Need vegetarian or gluten-free options? No problem. One couple was so specific in their requests, they had the Table 3 chefs recreate the exact meal shared on their first date! Its about accommodating peoples needs to the best of our ability and being happy to do it! From start to finish, brides and grooms craft the components they desire, including choosing linens and napkins from a palette of 74 colors. Each event at the Barn at Wight Farm has a completely different vibe, and each wedding is reflec-tive of the specific couple.

The venue itself is exceptional, too. The Table 3 Restaurant Group owns the entire property, which has beautifully manicured grounds dotted with traditional New England structures, situated alongside maples and oaks that color the land-scape. There are also gardens and stylish hard-scapes, including a stone patio with a satellite bar and a gas-lit fire pit, adding to the comfort and ambiance of evening weddings. The building itself is a stunning post-and-beam structure, which has been recently remodeled. The main room of the barn retains a feeling of historic tradition, while providing the contemporary ambience todays brides and grooms are looking for. The venue boasts high ceilings, a large dance floor, and ta-bles and chairs that match the dcor perfectly; the space accommodates 175 guests. Presenting its own unique charm, The Barn at Wight Farm is described as being modern-rustic, without being antiquated.
Additional amenities include a private bridal suite on the lower level. Each couple is assigned a staff team who anticipate the couples every need, keeping the entire event on track, and providing exceptional service from start to finish.

Another great thing about the Barn at Wight Farm is that guests are rewarded for their loyal-ty . . . couples who book a wedding at the facil-ity can receive additional discounts for booking showers, rehearsals, or other wedding-related events at any of the groups three restaurants. Its a valuable perk!
To learn more, the group produces its own Table 3 newsletter once a month and theres also a Facebook page dedicated to the Barn, which is packed with information and images of previous events. Its a terrific resource for getting ideas and keeping your finger on the pulse of wedding trends at the Barn!

SelectingYour Signature Scent
78 Winter 2016 BRIDE&GROOM
by Stacey Marcus
A Quick Guide to Picking Your Perfect Wedding Perfume
Picking a perfume for your wedding is a very personal and sensual experience. The fragrance will linger throughout your lifetime,
circling you back to the wonder and excitement of your wedding day. How does a bride go about the selecting a signature scent? We asked area experts to spritz a little light on the subject.
www.bridegroommag.com 79
How does the process work? Working with a fragrance expert who can help guide you through the selection process is your best bet. He or she may ask you simple questions such as what kinds of scents appeal to you (flo-ral, fruity, woody, clean, etc.). In many ways, it may truly come down to whether or not you like how the fragrance smellssometimes, its that simple! Trying the fragrance on your skin is suggested so you can get a sense of how the different layers and fragrance notes will bloom on your skin. Once youve narrowed it down to a few choices, get a sample of each fragrance so you can take time to fall in love with one of them and make a final decision, notes Nordstroms East Coast beauty director Laksmi Sam.
I made an appointment with Katherine Stanner, beauty ambassador of Jo Malone and certified fragrance specialist at Nordstrom, to walk me through the field of fragrance. Jo Malone is an ideal brand for brides (and grooms) be-cause they offer more than twenty-five different scents that can be layered or worn alone. Stanner taught me how to select a bespoke scent, one that is tailored to personal style as well as to the event. Popular wedding scents include Orange Blossom, a symbol of everlasting love and fidelity, and Peony and Blush Suede, a luxurious and seductive scent. I shared my wedding details, which included a seaside ceremony at the beginning of June. Katherine took into account my personal style, which is casual. She suggested layering Wood Sage Sea Salt (think sea salt spraying on rocks) with Wild Bluebell (imagine a field of freshly picked flowers still wet with morning dew). Selecting a bespoke frangrance is truly an enjoyable experience.
Eric Buterbaugh, A-list celebrity florist to the stars and perfume maker shares a few tips for brides:
Gifts for BridesmaidsA small bottle of the scent wrapped in a special personal way with a note makes a wonderful bridesmaid gift and memento.
New Scent for WeddingI think the scent should be different than your everyday scent. It should be very special and classic, setting the mood for a new beginning.
Where to Apply PerfumePerfume should be applied to pulse points, such as your wrists, behind the ears, the crook of your arms, and behind your knees.

Sweetheart Tablesby Ben LefebvreI n this modern age, we are most likely to gather our families
together on the living room sofa in front of our televisions or iPads, but where is the romance in that? The dinner table is the place where the family meets to reinforce the positive values we associate with healthy and happy relationships.
The dinner table is the soul of the home. It is the place for ideas to be expressed and subjects debated, for merrymaking and consolation. The dinner table is where electronics should be put aside so that the family can connect over wood instead of through wires and waves.

When my wife and I were planning our wedding, I wanted to contribute something handcrafted that would have a permanent place in our home. I focused on the significance of the dinner table as inspiration. The table I crafted became our sweetheart tablethe table where we sat alone during our wedding receptionour first night together as a family.
This was the first in a long line of our family dinners. Now, four years later, my eight-month-old daughter sits at this same table and nibbles on fruit as my wife and I enjoy a relaxing Saturday breakfast and talk about our plans for the day.
Windswept Ltd. specializes in craft-ing these one-of-a-kind tables accord-ing to the specifications of the cus-tomer. Wood has the ability to take on an heirloom quality like no other material. It takes on a uniquely individ-ual character that can only come from years of being handled. The essence of the sweetheart table is enriched by the idea that somehow its essence is preserved in the ineffable luster of the wood. Wood, by nature soaks in its environment, and a dinner table takes on the glow of shared meals and laughter, just as a workbench gradually takes on the patina of years of tools, oil, and paint.
Windswept strives to achieve an heirloom-quality piece in two ways. First, the tables we craft are meant to endure the winds of time, built to be passed down to future generations. It is with this goal in mind that we craft our tables using traditional methods such as hand planing; mortise and tenon joinery; and minimal use of glues, metal fasteners, and high-build finishes. Secondly, we encourage the incorporation of a family heirloom into the piece that may have outlived its style or purpose. For instance, we created a one-of-a-kind dinner table from a clients grandpar-ents solid maple bed frame, thereby, imbuing the significance of the old into the new.
The dinner table is to the family what the wedding bands are to the couple. They are material items that symbolize something greater. The sweetheart tables I craft at Windswept Ltd. make an excellent centerpiece for the reception and are worthy to host the newly formed family that day and every day, for as long as they both shall live.

Honeymoon in Vegasby Cindy Papish Gerber
W ere definitely familiar with the slogans and nicknames: What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas, Sin City, and Entertainment Capital of the
World. This once-reputed playground for the Mob and Rat Pack; center
stage for Elvis and his impersonators and backdrop for iconic films, books,
and TV seriesLas Vegas, Nevada, is also known as the Marriage Capital
of the World.
Romance and excitement awaits!

So, it comes as no surprise that Face-book ranked this glittering desert city as 2014s most popular honeymoon spot.
With more than 150,000 hotel rooms, luxury spas, innumerable attractions, mu-seums, shopping, entertainment, din-ing, gaming, 24-hour nightlife, fabulous scenery, and warm weatherno matter what kind of experience you are seeking, Las Vegas has options, says Joel Peter-son, leisure sales executive with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). You can have a relaxing spa get-away, high-end or resort experience, stay on the Strip where the action is . . . or choose a combo of those things.
Besides trying your luck at the casinos, there are concerts, comedy shows, magic acts, sporting events, dancing, drama, musicals, eight different Cirque Due So-leil shows, and much more. Couples can ride on the giant High Roller Ferris wheel, zip and zoom across downtown Fremont Street on the SlotZilla zipline, hike, bike, play golf or tennis, drive racecars, or laze by the pool.
Fans of the Warner Bros comedy hit The Hangover can actually relive it and get hitched in a replica of the films Best Little Chapel set at Madame Tussauds The Hangover Experience. You can visit
the chaotic hotel room (with roaring ti-ger!), drink Jgermeister shots, and say your vows before an Elvis-type minister. This is the only place in Las Vegas says marketing manager Cole Kouvaris, where Bradley Cooper as Phil and Zach Gali-fianakis as Alan can be there as special witnesses.
Embarking upon a no-passport-re-quired, 24-hour-long Vegas vacation within a vacation is achievable. Take a romantic gondola ride in Venice at the Venetian, go to the top of the Eiffel
Tower at the Paris, stroll hand-in-hand through Central Park at New York, New York, and enjoy an evening boat ride on the Nile at the Luxor.
From lavish non-gaming hotels like the Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, and Vdara Hotel & Spa, to the aquatic-themed Mandalay Bay Hotel, which features an 11-acre beach, wave pool. and shark reef aquarium, many hotels tie into the ro-mance theme, notes Peterson.

shopping, beautiful dcor, and most im-portantly, unparalleled service, says Ol-ivia Brown, general manager of Bellagio Resort & Casino. Its a place where mem-ories are made. Our spectacular fountains are a big part of that. We have restaurants that overlook the beautiful choreography of the dancing Fountains of Bellagio, an ideal setting for a celebratory meal with the one you love.
While dining at GIADA, the namesake debut restaurant of Emmy Award-winning celebrity chef, Giada De Laurentiis, you and your honey can take in a sweeping view of those fountains, Caesars Palace, and Ballys Grand Bazaar. Located in The Cromwell boutique hotel, GIADA reflects De Laurentiis vision. When guests come to GIADA, I want them to feel like they are coming to my house for dinner, she says. Between the breathtaking view and the delicious food, I hope my guests will feel that GIADA captures the kind of atmo-sphere that brings that Vegas energy to life.
Mario Batali, Gordon Ramsay, Bobby Flay, Tom Colicchio . . . practically every
celebrity chef has a Vegas outpost. But foodies in the know are heading off to the Strip to sample creative cuisine in restau-rants located in the hip downtown district.
One such place is Carson Kitchen. Origi-nally developed in 2014 by the citys first true local celebrity chef (the late Kerry Si-mon), the menu at this American gastro-

Venturing beyond the Strip definitely has its appeal. There are Lake Las Ve-gas properties with breathtaking views, Joel Peterson points out, and beautiful spa resorts at Red Rock Canyon. At the Red Rock Resort, honeymooners have an incredible opportunity to enjoy all the excitement and amenities Las Vegas has to offer in a truly relaxing stayaway from the crowds and noise that are often part of the Strip experience, says Lori Nelson, APR-vice president of corporate commu-nications with Station Casinos.
By using the LCVCA website or consulting with a savvy travel agent, plan-ning a winning Las Vegas honeymoon is a sure bet. And the odds are even great-er that youll return soon . . . to renew your vows!

Groom facts/answersWe asked you! The best ways to keep your groom happy, involved and thought of during the planning process. Planning your dream wedding can be difficult but hopefully these questions and answers help make the process go a little smoother!
Q: I have already picked my bridesmaids and my groom keeps dragging out the task to pick his groomsmen. How do I get him to speed up the process without being pushy?
A: Maybe your groom is having a tough time deciding between all of his friends. Sit him down and talk out his game plan. If hes confused on who to pick, suggest choosing family members that way no friend gets hurt.
Q: My fianc and I are going on an adventurous honeymoon around Asia and I want to surprise him with a fun gift for the big trip. What do you suggest?
A: Surprise him with a GoPro camera! Give him the gift at the start of the honeymoon that way you two can capture all your favorite memories from your trip, start to finish!
Q: My groom is really looking to help out with the planning, but Im not quite sure what type of tasks to give him and how many?
A: Give your man some tasks that you know he will enjoy doing. Set up a to-do list of a few items hell be in charge of. Let him be in charge of the alcohol or finding entertainment for the guests!
Q: He wants to pick out his and his groomsmens tuxs, but Im a little apprehensive to do so. How should I compromise? I want us both to look our best without his attire clashing with our wedding theme!
A: Share with him the vision you had and let him take it from there! If you give your groom an idea of some of the styles you like, you can both find a tux that suits your needs.
Q: My groom is asking to register for tech items like a new TV, but I am looking to register for more household/ kitchen items we can use in our future home! Where should we register?
A: When registering, think of some universal places where both of you can find items youll like AND use. For example, Best buy! Another great option is to create a wish list through Amazon. You can pick out items you both like, share the list with your guests, and they can pick from there.

Prevent wedding gift theftYour wedding day is the happiest day of your life you are marrying the love of your life and all of your friends and family are gathered in one spot to help you celebrate. The last thing on your mind should be the threat of your wedding gifts being stolen from a wed-ding crasher or worse yet, an invited wedding guest. Unfortunately, snatching gifts is easier than you may think, and it is becoming more common in todays society. The good news: there are some easy steps you can take to avoid becoming a victim of this preventable crime.
8 easy ways to prevent your wedding gifts from being stolen at your wedding:
1. Create an online registry Make it your goal to have as many gifts delivered directly to your home as possible. By creating an online registry, guests can shop and ship directly through the stores website. This al-lows for the gift to arrive safely at your door without ever being brought to the reception.
2. Be conscious of the gift table placement The best location for a gift table is far away from all exits, in a corner of a well-populated area; because, in theory, the more populated the area, the harder it is to snatch gifts. You may consider combining the gift table with a candy or snack bar, so guests are frequently in and around the gift table area.
3. Say good-bye to the gift table altogether Dont allow wedding gift thieves any opportunity to spoil your day. Instead make a note on your invitation (or post a sign by your Guest Book), that there is not a gift table. Mention that you will per-sonally visit each table during the reception. If guests choose to bring a card or gift, they may hand it to you at that time.
^Make your event one that your guests will remember. Ambiance Linens will provide you with personalized service, free design consultation, and quality linens, all at affordable prices.

Enjoy the Moment
4. Appoint a gift attendant Select a trustworthy friend or family member to act as your gift attendant. Ask this person to keep a close eye on the gift table as soon as guests start arriv-ing to the reception. Once dinner begins, gifts may be moved to an alternate location, such as a locked room in the reception venue or the bride and grooms suite.
5. Greet all guests personally Although you only typically invite close friends and family to your wedding, there may be several plus one guests in attendance that you have never met. Greeting everyone personally will allow you to have a better idea of who is at your wedding. If you feel uncomfort-able with someone you met, dont hesitate to ask your personal attendant (or friend or family) to ask them to leave.
6. The card box Create or purchase a secure card box (with a lock) for guests to deposit cards into. Ensure that the box has only one slit at the top and will remain locked throughout the evening. Give the key to a member of your bridal party or a family member; request that they keep an eye on the box until the party is in high gear, when it can be moved to a safe area.
7. Call out a wedding crasher If you see someone unfamil-iar at your wedding, dont hesitate to ask your wedding planner or venue coordinator to escort them out.
8. Purchase wedding insurance Markel event insurance offers cancellation coverage, which includes protection against lost or damaged wedding gifts. Coverage also includes protec-tion from other wedding nightmares, such as if a vendor goes bankrupt (or worse yet, just doesnt show up on your big day), damaged photography or even if a hurricane causes you to have to cancel or postpone your big event. Policies start as low as $130, and can be purchased up to 14 days prior to your event. Markel also offers event liability insurance coverage, to help protect you if someone causes property damage to your wedding venue or if someone is injured at your event, for as little as $75. Purchase both event cancellation and event liability coverage and save up to 15%!
If a wedding gift thief does strike, be sure to call the police immediately. Also ask if your venue has any security cameras to help the police identify the culprit. In addition, if you chose to protect your day with wedding insurance, dont forget to call your wedding insurance carrier to file a claim for the stolen gifts. The threat of your gifts getting stolen is real, but if you follow some of the tips listed above, hopefully you will deter any mischief to enjoy your wedding day without worry.
