Message byProf. Jaideep Malhotra
Right from the day, a girl is born, there are various problems, she may suffer, which are related to breast and right upto late midlife, whether its simple breast hypertrophy in girls, to non-development in adolescents to breast cancer at later age groups. All the issues are ignored and neglected till the time they become irreparable or too late.
Breast is an important and integral part of any gynaecological examination. Most of the times, wegynaecologistsare the primary physician for breast issues for every age group therefore, it is very appropriate and the need of the day to bring together experts in this field to share experiences and knowledge on all aspects of breast related problems and to update and guide our fraternity about the evidence based management of these problems which are very unique to our female population. The BREASTCON has been planned by the FOGSI Breast Disease Committee to bring forward all the problems women have and are shy to reveal and consult and also update our fraternity.
Breast cancer has become the leading cause of death and has even crossed the mortality by cervical cancer in the past few years and demands our immediate attention.
Ann Julian Says, “There is life after Breast Cancer. The only pre-requisite is early detection.”We propagate early detection of breast diseases with self-examination and regular checkups. We hope you all will benefit from the deliberations of BREASTCON and I congratulate the organizing team for focusing on this topic and I welcome all delegates to this wonderful Conference. I am sure team Indore will be the perfect host.FOGSI is determined to carry out evidence based activities which will have long term positiveimplication on our population. There has been a lot of ambiguity in areas of concern, whether its falls on area of surgeon or area of gynaecologists. This conference will give us a lot of clarity on all issues.
In the year 2018, we are pledged to work for HER (Health; Empowerment & Respect for our women's) and & QED (Quality; Equity and Dignity for our Fraternity)after She Matters; it's now our medical and social responsibility to keep our women completely healthy.
