Unit 1 Day 1

Haruka: Hey, Chris. Can you take a look at Cookie? I'm worried about her. ハルカ：ねえ、クリス。クッキーを見てやってくれる？気になるんだけど。 Chris: Sure. What's wrong with her? クリス：ああ。どうしたの？ Haruka: She looks sick. Takashi: Um, we only seem to have sake and sushi in here. タカシ：ええと、この中にはお酒と寿司しか無いみたいだね。 Jake: Yeah, I wanted you to feel at home, so I got some Japanese stuff. ジェイク：ああ、君にくつろいでもらいたいと思って、日本の物を買ってみたんだ。 Takashi: That's so nice, but, actually, I don't drink. Chris: What's up? クリス：どうしたの？ Haruka: I'm just reading this article about animal shelters. Around 10 million animals enter the shelter system every year. And many of them are put down ... ハルカ：動物保護施設についての記事を読んでいるの。毎年 1,000万匹の動物たちが施設に収容されて、その多くが安楽死させられるんですって・・・。 Chris: That's really sad. クリス：すごく悲しい話だね。 Haruka: Apparently, a lot of them are just abandoned. Friend: So, have you met your professors yet? 友人：それで、担当の教授たちにはもう会ったの？ Takashi: Yeah, I spoke to them during orientation last week. All of them were really helpful. She's a little irritating sometimes. 友人：ああ、何でもないの。うちのお姑さんから電話が掛かってきたのよ。時々ちょっとイライラさせられることがあるのよね。 Haruka: Why's that? ハルカ：どうして？ Friend: She asks pretty nosy questions.
