OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

To unite the Filipino students within the Rutgers commu-

nity by establishing solidarity on the basis of a common herit-

age, to educate the Rutgers community on various aspects

of the Philippine culture, to provide information of current so-

cioeconomic and political conditions about the Philippines,

and to provide services and programs that will be beneficial

to Filipinos both within and outside the Rutgers community.

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR:

Dear RAPS,

On behalf of RAPS’ E-board, and myself, we welcome you to

Breaking Semi! Tonight is going to be a night filled with memories,

laughter, and joy so make sure to make the most out of it! The se-

mester has finally ended so let us all kick back and relax!

RAPS Semi is dedicated to all of the hard work that we put in-

to the semester! Embrace all of the friendships made throughout

the year! As a Breaking Bad fan, I hope that Breaking Semi will ex-

hibit as much thrill and excitement for you as the show did for me.

So don’t be afraid to go a little crazy tonight!

As the incoming Balita editor, I hope I can provide recogni-

tion to the events and subgroups that RAPS has to offer. My main

goal is to increase awareness of the Filipino community as a whole

here at Rutgers through the Balita. Hopefully, the Balita will be

able to spark your interests! If you would like to contribute to an is-

sue for the Balita, please do not hesitate to contact me!

WHAT IS THE BALITA?

The Balita is the Rutgers Association of Philippine Students’ official

newsletter. It serves as a medium of communication between our or-

ganization and or members. We feature articles written by our very

own members, current events, news, features, pictures, as well as up-

coming events. We invite all of our interested members to send

their submissions to be featured in the future publications of the

Balita.

Are you an avid writer, photographer, illustrator, blogger or pursuing

a career in journalism? The Balita is currently looking for contributors

to feature in our future publications. We accept anything from pho-

tos, articles, comic strips, poems to caricatures.
