“For the promise is for you, for your children, and for all who are far away, every-

one whom the Lord our God calls to him.” Acts 2:39

This year’s Catholic Education Week theme is “Renewing the Promise.” The theme for CEW 2018 draws upon previous documents on Ontario Catholic education, name-ly, “This Moment of Promise” (1989), “Fulfilling the Promise” (1993) and “Our Catholic Schools” (2006-2007). These three documents, while several years apart from each other, all speak of the unique mission of Ontario Catholic education, the importance of its shared leader-ship by all those involved in Catholic education and the critical role of Catholic education in con-temporary society. Catholic Education Week 2018 combines the themes of reconciliation, solidarity, love, justice and ecology. There are five sub-themes for each day of Cath-olic Education Week: Day 1: Remembering the Promise Faire mémoire de la promesse Day 2: The Promise is Within You La promesse est en toi Day 3: Praying the Promise Prier la promesse Day 4: Living the Promise Vivre la promesse Day 5: Proclaiming the Promise Annoncer la promesse Every year, the Ontario Catholic School Trus-tees’ Association (OCSTA) provides our Catholic schools with a resource kit to help schools pre-pare for Catholic Education Week. Kiss & Ride

The driveway at the front of the school is set up as our Kiss & Ride allowing parents/guardians the

opportunity to drop off and pick up their children in a safe and effective manner.

The following list of Kiss & Ride procedures has been established to ensure your child(ren)’s safety.

We ask that you please …

have backpacks, lunch bags, umbrellas, snow pants etc. in the vehicle, not in the trunk. Having to

get things out of the trunk slows the flow of traffic.

use the Drop Off Lane and refrain from using the Bus Loading Zone (right next to the sidewalk)

as this area is meant for buses and emergency vehicles only.

pull up as far as you can. This allows for more cars to move off the street and into the Kiss &

Ride.

stay in your vehicle. Exiting your vehicle even if only for a few seconds creates a safety concern as

the left lane is for exiting traffic.

have your child(ren) prepare to exit on the passenger side (right side) of your vehicle. Exiting on

the left side is extremely dangerous as students may step in front of moving traffic in the exit

lane.

exit using the Kiss & Ride Lane, once your child has been dropped off and make a right turn onto

Council Ring Road. Left-hand turns are prohibited during entry and dismissal times.

drive slowly and carefully in all lanes and at all times.

use the sidewalk if you are walking your children to and

from school. Walking through the Kiss & Ride lanes is

unsafe.

“For as the rain and the snow come down from Heav-en, and do not return there without watering the earth, and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so will my word be, which goes forth from my mouth; it will not return to me empty, without accomplish-ing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”

-Isaiah 55:10-11

Today we had two great presentations by Dufflebag Theatre. Since

1992, The "Nearly World-Famous" DuffleBag Theatre has traveled

the globe with their original adaptations of fairy tales and classic sto-

ries. With wit and humour for all ages, DuffleBag creates theatrical

magic by inviting up audience members as the stars of the show!

The result is an exciting, interactive and unique experience for all. It's

no wonder DuffleBag performs over 600 shows annually, at theatres,

schools and festivals across North America and beyond! Great fun

was had by all!
