RihannaRihanna has a very unique way of branding herself. Although a lot of her music is listened to by teenage girls, her branding does not quite match this. Many photo shoots and appearances Rihanna does consist of edgy make up, little clothing and seductive poses, which makes her more risky for younger people to listen too. Through social networking sites like Twitter and Instagram, Rihanna prides herself on being herself and not trying to impress anyone. This kind of branding attract others towards her as they believe they are getting to know the real Rihanna.

This means that everything she releases from music to images, all have Rihanna’s trademark ‘hard’ personality attached to it. By using the same branding across all types of media, means that audiences begin to build a connection with what Rihanna is about. Resulting in more loyalty, meaning more sales.

Mumford and SonsMumford and Son’s image coordinates with the music they produce with the image of all members of the band. The country feel that their music gives off is also given off in the way that they dress and the mise en scene of many of their photo shoots.The images to the right demonstrate the authentic, english feel of the band. This is not only done by the setting of these photos, but also how the band members dress. By wearing casual, everyday clothing makes them seem relaxed and likable. This friendly vide they give off makes audiences build a relationship with them as if they were their friends. This will increase sales for the band.

Kanye WestKanye West’s branding is very clever. He does not appear on many interviews and is known for wanting to avoid any press, he also regularly advertises the fact the music he makes is for himself not to make money. However this attitude makes audiences interested in him. The fact they have no connection with him or don’t know much about the real him, means that people constantly want to find more. This attitude is strongly communicated through his branding. In the photo shoots you can see on this page show lots of black and white, sunglasses and head on poses. This makes him seem very stern with a no messing about personality. This is communicated in his music, which is constantly breaking new boundaries and shows he is not scared to create something different.

Little MixLittle Mix target themselves at teenage girls, and the image they portray through branding matches this. Many images they appear in feature big smiles and colourful clothes. All their interviews and fun and lighthearted giving off the right impression to young girls. Although many idols for young girls feel the need to ensure they look natural, Little Mix take on a more contemporary take on young girls idols. With bright coloured hair and big make up, they still look appealing to young children. Younger girls are getting increasingly obsessed with changing their appearances, therefore Little Mix use their branding to give off a good impression of how to have fun with what you look like. This will make girls build a stronger connection with the band.
