-Combine know-how from areas of ECG analysis and ambulatory patient monitoring
-Combine the expertise of partners from the region to provide an innovative ICT based business model for management of CHF patients in structurally weak areas.
- The model puts great emphasis on integrating the general practitioner
- The model stresses that the telemedicine center must be regional promotes the human contact factor between patient and the center
- The telemedicine center must be affiliated to a clinic or hospital which normally treats the patients immediate access to previous therapies
- Other call center based models have failed to find overall acceptance due to the fact that the regional players, especially the general practitioners, have often been irritated by the fact that their patients are undergoing parallel treatment from an anonymous center, with often conflicting forms of treatment.
- Model can be used as a basis for services covering different types of disease management, e.g. heart attack, diabetes or blood pressure
58 patients / 23,000 patient days / 45,000 measurements
Telemonitoring for 4 – 23 months, 396 days on average
Before telemonitoring:96 cases of hospitalsation accounting for 1374 days
With telemonitoring:21 cases of hospitalsation (- 78 %) accounting for 207 days (- 85 %)
- Availability of objective, multi-parameter medical data on a daily basis leads to early detection and prevention of critical situations
- Telemonitoring increases patient compliance and enables many patients suffering from CHF to be kept in a stabile medical state
- Active participation provides a better feeling of security and an increase in the quality of life for patients and families especially for patients in rural areas
- The BIEM programme within the Cohesion Policy framework assisted getemed in generating growth by consolidating existing knowledge from different areas to develop new innovative products and by co-operating with other businesses and institutions to create new cost efficient services
- Practical trial under real-life conditions helped to discover (and remove) both technical and social pitfalls within the business model.
- Organising & executing the project enhanced social competences within the company.
- Presentations at telemedicine and cardiology conferences along with a study published* further helped to increase getemed's public profile
- Triggered interest in others to win getemed as a partner for their projects:
