A W HOLE N EW M IND 2010 B RAINSTORM Exhibition Catalog Artists’ Reception and Award Ceremony June 19, 2010 5-7pm The Intellectual Life Committee at Governors State University is sponsoring a national juried art competition titled “A Whole New Mind 2010 BRAINSTORM”. The exhibit runs from May 24 to June 24 in the Visual Arts Gallery at GSU. Exhibition founder, curator, and coordinator Jeff Stevenson drew inspiration from Daniel Pink’s best-selling book, “A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers will Rule the Future,” and the artists in the show are responding to that theme. Eighty-one artists from 22 states submitted 289 pieces of artwork to compete for $2,000 in prize money. The jurors selected 59 art works by 45 artists that best represented the theme of the show. Susan Aurinko (artist, photographer, independent curator, and former owner of FLATFILEgalleries, Chicago) and Tricia Van Eck (Associate Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago) are serving as the competition’s jurors. A reception and award ceremony will be held on Saturday June 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. The Visual Arts Gallery is open Monday and Wednesday, from 2 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday, from 11 to 4 p.m. or by appointment. You do not need to sign up to attend the discussion; it is free and open to the public.
