Structure
The Cerebrum
Cerebrum
Cerebellum
Lobes, the Cerebral Cortex, and Cortical Regions of the BrainThe largest division of the brain. It is divided into two
hemispheres, each of which is divided into four lobes.
Cerebral Cortex - The outermost layer of gray matter making up the superficial aspect of the cerebrum.
Cerebral Cortex
Cerebral Features:• Gyri – Elevated ridges “winding” around the brain.• Sulci – Small grooves dividing the gyri• Central Sulcus – Divides the Frontal Lobe from the Parietal Lobe• Fissures – Deep grooves, generally dividing large regions/lobes of
the brain• Longitudinal Fissure – Divides the two Cerebral Hemispheres• Transverse Fissure – Separates the Cerebrum from the
Cerebellum• Sylvian/Lateral Fissure – Divides the Temporal Lobe from the
Frontal and Parietal Lobes

Interesting Facts About Brain• After the one year from birth our brain developed up to 90% and after two year later brain developed up to 98%. • Our brain fully developed at the age of 18.• At the birth our brain weight is 350-400g while A developed brain contains about 1300-1400g.• A cat brain weights about 30g while A elephant’s brain weight is 6000g.• The human brain has about 100,000,000,000 (100 billion) neurons while A octopus brain has about 300 million neurons.• If proper blood supply stopped in brain then Unconsciousness will occur after 8-10 seconds.• The weight of an adult human cerebellum is 150 g.• Our brain can alive without oxygen for 4 to 6 minute after that cells begin die.•The energy used by the brain is enough to light a 25 watt bulb.•A living brain is so soft you could cut it with a table knife.
