NOTE: production in 1000 tonnes

FACTORS AFFECTING:-

Low productivity

Lack of technology

Less use of cultivated area

SOLUTION PROPOSED:- Use HYV seeds(duration 100-125 days)for kharif crops

(then we can produce RABI crops e.g-mustard,wheat,maize,pulses,lentils,sunflower)

Use chemical fertilizers,pesticides

BAMBOO MISION: if use in 10,000 hectares,

• investment is 13 crores

• revenue =32 crore

• jobs=40,000

• Projected market by 2015=5.5biUS$

• Share of NE by 2015=1.25biUS$

BIO-FUEL MISSION: total barren / uncultivated land 17,00,000 hectares

• if used in 130,000 hectares

• Revenue=325 crore per year

• Job=1,30,000 people

• Life of crop=50 years

• It will reduce foreign exchange flow

SOLUTION PROPOSED;-

Waste land has capacity to produce bio diesel by using

Jatropha seeds =16 lakhs tonnes/year.

But use of waste land is only 8 lakhs hectares.

PISCICULTURE;-

Need of Improvement in pisciculture

Current status:100% consumption in NE

Import by Myanmar & Bangladesh=38,340 tonnes per annum
