We have had a very settled start to the year and it is with excitement that all of our students, staff and family members have returned. It is a great honour to be the Principal of such an outstanding school and I look forward to working with all of the students, staff, families and wider community members over the coming years. We currently have an enrolment of 260 students, an increase by almost 50 students over the past two years. I believe this is due to the pride we take when representing and speaking about our school in the wider community, the excellent way we personalise learning for all of our students, the opportunities we provide for all and the passion we have for ensuring every student achieves success. Kindergarten 2017 On Thursday 2nd February we welcomed 54 new Kindergar- ten students to our school. I have visited each class every day, and already the students are learning about and demonstrating what it means to be safe, respectful and responsible learners. This is a very important time for these children and their par- ents, and as a school we are very proud of them all for settling in so quickly. We look forward to our new families becoming an active part of our school and we welcome you all. School Driveway Gate The school driveway gate will be closed and locked from 8:30am to 9:30am each morning and from 2:25pm - 3:15pm, every afternoon. We do this to ensure all of our students are SAFE when entering and leaving school. As you can imagine, if we allowed all members of the community to drive in and out of the driveway and use the carpark, we could have up to 150 cars come in and out, which would be extremely unsafe. I thank you for your understand- ing in this matter. Assembly This term we will be trialing Wednesdays from 12:40pm - 1:30pm for our whole school assembly. Assemblies will be held in the hall. We are trialing this time as during the afternoon session the before and after school care require the hall to set up for the service, and our students on assisted school transport miss part of the assembly when held in the afternoon session. Par- ents and carers are encouraged to attend the assembly and you will receive an invite from the classroom teacher if your child is to receive a PBL or special award. Our first assembly this year will be held on Wednesday 1st March at 12:40pm. This year every class will attend the library for a library lesson each week. Some classes
will spend an additional hour in the library to complete lessons related to other Key
Learning Areas.
The library program is part of our whole school release from face to face (RFF) pro-
gram.
All classes have now had their first library lesson for the year. The students have en-
joyed borrowing books for both home and school.
In order to encourage students to continue to borrow and enjoy books we are starting
a borrowing competition. Children who remember to return their library books and
borrow again will earn one point for their class. At the end of the term the class with
the highest percentage of borrowing will be rewarded.
There will also be individual recognition for students who make the greatest effort with
borrowing.
Please encourage your children to remember their library books on their day and to
continue to borrow!
