Every year close to one million bicycles are stolen in the U.S. alone.
These numbers are rivaled in many other western nations.
Many of the stolen bikes end up at police auctions and are sold for penny’s on the dollar.
Many more bicycles are sold at garage sales.
Many are abandoned. Many are dumped.
Project Goals Develop pilot project plan Determine ultimate feasibility for full
implementation
RESEARCH PHASE Research/identify potential sponsoring
partners Research/define requirements for
African nation candidates Research/define logistical hurdles
Identify partners and logistics to: Finance Supply Warehouse Ship Receive (an organization with a
presence in candidate countries) Maintain (repair and maintenance in
country)
Based on input from all stakeholders: Refine Mission Write Mission Statement
Define & Test Strategic approaches Communication plan Components/metrics for success Steps defined Schedule Budget Contingencies relative to risk
Develop work breakdown structure (who does what, where and when)
Draft project diagram/sequence of events/critical path
Resource allocation Milestones/review points summarized –
all stakeholders Define process for correcting course if
needed
Most successful aspects of project, from definition through execution. Why?
Can successes be improved upon? Mistakes made – how and why? Understanding the impact of mistakes
made. What do we do differently to avoid/prevent
mistakes? Write close-out report. Distribute to team.
