JANUARY 2016
Homemaker Christmas Dinner Celebration can be defined as the action of marking one's pleasure at an important event or occasion by engaging in enjoyable, typically social, activity. Many have celebration around the holiday season and a good way to
celebrate is to get together with individuals that have common interests and goals. The Boyd County Extension Homemakers chose to get together and celebrate this holiday season as well as take time to enjoy each other and give back to their community. The Homemaker dinner was a fun night filled with “ugly sweater” contests and several cakes were given away while participants performed a cake walk around the room.

Club Update Sunshine
We had a busy fall. We have met twice to make jewelry, including bracelets, necklaces, and ear rings, which we donated to The Dressing Room. Several of our members also participate in making Hospice Quilts. Sunshine also enjoyed decorating our “Old Fashioned” theme Christmas Tree at the Highlands Museum. As a club we took part in the Extension Office Holiday Wreath Making Class. Some of our other member volunteer activities include; Backpack Blessings, donations to The Dressing Room, Red Kettle Campaign, Friends of the Children, and making Christmas stockings for new born babies at St. Clair Hospital in Morehead, KY. We also make monetary donations to Hospice and Community Kitchen. Sunshine Homemakers meet the second Saturday of the month.

Understanding Generational Differences
Followers, co-workers or family members who have shared the same experiences can view the same situations or recall specific events so differently. These differences in perspective can often be attributed to generational differences. Each generation has marked strengths as well as challenges, which both contribute to their leadership style. You will find a publication, facilitator’s guide, PowerPoint presentation and evaluation for use in this program.
February 22nd thru 26th State-wide FCS Agent Spring Training
Take Note...
As an agent with the University of Kentucky, we sometimes are placed in roles that have responsibilities that take us out of the
county. February will be a month that I am out of the office a lot due to traveling to other counties to teach the Homemaker
Leader Lesson. If you need me and I am not in the office please feel free to leave me a message and I will get back to you as
soon as possible.

January 23rd It is widely publicized that National Pie Day was created by the
American Pie Council and that the set day is January 23rd. The American Pie Association website claims that March 16th is National Pi(e) Day and is a day to celebrate pie and math! Because pie is delicious, I suggest we celebrate both dates and have double the delicious pie. For your celebration benefits, a Super Star Chef Pie Crust recipe is on the back of the Homemaker Mail Out Insert
