Welcome to week 8! This week will be another busy and exciting week at Bourke Public School. Congratulations to all year 6 students who graduated from Primary school last week! All students had a fantastic night at the Year 6 Farewell. Thank you to Miss Griffiths, the stage 3 teachers and all other staff who helped make the night a special occasion. The P&C FETE was a huge hit last Friday. Thank you to the P&C for organising a great event and also to all the parents/carers and community members who assisted in anyway. Infants intensive swimming started today and continues for the next two weeks. We will be holding two graduation afternoons for our Early Years Transition Centre students in week 9 (please see the attached flyer). Miss Heaney Week 8, time flies when your having fun! This week is the start of Infants Intensive Swimming so if you have bought your note in don’t forget to bring your swimmers and towel. Miss Bartley Last week 1N started working on our coke bottle Pop art, we are going to finish our artworks off this week and we can’t wait for everyone to see them. In PDHPE we will be learning about pedestrian lights and how they are used with traffic lights for people to cross the road. 1N students have already mastered using a crossing to cross the road, we will be role playing using pedestrian lights in class. Thank you to every one for a wonderful fete!!
Miss McKechnie Welcome to week 8 everyone! This week in Theme we are learning how to cross the road safely by using the pedestrian crossing at the front of the school. This week we have Infants Intensive Swimming. If you are participating in this scheme and have returned your note, please remember to bring your swimmers and towel. Miss Duiz Last week 1D had a lot of fun learning how to cross the road safely. This week in Literacy we are focusing on making sure our writing is neat and readable. In Maths we are continuing to expand our knowledge on multiplication and division. This week is also Infants Swimming Scheme so if your child is attending please make sure their swimmers, towel and goggles
are in a separate bag with their name on it. Have a lovely week!
Stage 1 AP – Miss Bartley Remember to come to school everyday to have an opportunity to attend our Stage One Splashathon. Students will have the reward of a swim at the pool and lunch too. Students must have 3 or less days off from school this term in order to attend. Just a reminder for those doing Intensive Swimming, please bring your swimmers to school every day. Mrs Gaukroger & Miss Clark Welcome to week 8! I hope all the students who participated in the Intensive Swimming Program last week enjoyed themselves. This week we will beginning our Drama unit. 2G are very good at performing plays! We have been kept busy sending and receiving emails from our penpals. We have thought of lots of interesting questions to ask them about their community. Have a great week!
Miss Buckley Welcome to Week 8. I hope you all enjoyed the Fete last Friday. 2B Literacy wrote amazing poems about Spring. We have also been working hard on our spelling and handwriting. 2B have been working really hard on their artworks for Presentation Night, so make sure you come along and have a look. This week we continue to look at illustrators. We are examining the composition of the pictures and the techniques that have been used to guide the reader. For example the illustrations use of colour, theme, sterotype, shot angle and vectors. We will be looking at the work of John Howe and Donna Rawlins.

Miss Dorrington 3D would like to congratulate all of year 6 on their fabulous outfits and manners at their farewell. Everyone was very proud of you all. This week we will be working on our theme work further investigating how the world is interrelated and issues that affect the world. We will be using Smarties to investigate probability and graphing the information.
Mr Porter What fantastic night Stage 3 students had at the Year 6 farewell last Tuesday. Last week we also had Year 6 shirts given out please remember to wear them. This week in literacy groups we will be finishing off Indian in the Cupboard while in Numeracy we will be challenging each other with our new maths games.
Mrs Douglas The Year 6 Farewell was a huge success and a great celebration of all the achievements attained by the graduating students; all the staff were very proud to attend this landmark event. In Literacy we will be continuing with poetry and in Maths we will be using protractors to measure angles.

I would like to thank everybody who helped out setting up for the Year 6 Farewell. I would especially like to thank Miss Buckley, Corey Brooks, Jackie Davis from the Nursery on Mertin, Rebecca Hopley for an amazing Graduation cake, Weefah for the catering, the Bourke Bowling Club, Anne-Maree Riches, Fiona Rankmore the the rest of the staff who helped out. It was an amazing night and it was a pleasure to organise. We have an amazing group of Year 6 students who are graduating and we have had an wonderful year!

Miss.Bradley Miss Bradley is away this week and the students in the EYTC will be having lots of fun with Miss Hudson getting ready for their graduation afternoon all week! If anyone has any nappy or tissue boxes, silver pie tins or other bits and pieces we could use please send them in asap! Don’t forget that our graduation is on next week! Monday/Tuesday group is on Tuesday afternoon and the Wednesday/Thursday group is on Wednesday afternoon! Hope to see you all there!
Ms Topalov Last week we made a sign for our Twilight Fete that was held last Friday. We used an old car bonnet dontated to us from Simmo’s, and some various scrap metal objects from the tip. Thanks to the Shire Council members that hung the sign in the main street. The LC boys are proud of their efforts and even had their photo taken for the paper. The P&C Twilight Fete was fantastic.
