Page 3: Boudica

When her husband died, Boudica took over the leadership of the Iceni.

She slaughtered a Roman army. She torched Londinium

(London), leaving a charred layer almost half a meter thick that can still be traced under the modern city.

What did Boudica do?

Page 4: Boudica

When?

Page 5: Boudica

The Iceni were a Celtic tribe located in an area of southern Britain known as East Anglia.

Geographically they were isolated; to the north and east the boundary was the sea and the remainder was covered in dense forest, making invasion from foreigners nearly impossible.

She invaded Londinium (London)

Where?

Page 6: Boudica

She rallied the Iceni people against the Romans through her authority as a leader and charisma as an aerator.

She was regarded a natural leader after her husband’s death

How did she do it?

Page 7: Boudica

She was really really angry at the Romans: Roman commanders confiscated most of their

property. She was made to pay for the

debts of her husband, something she couldn’t do it and was stripped and beaten in public.

Roman soldiers raped her daughters.

Why did she do this?
