ABOLLADURA (DENT).- Hendidura pequeña suavemente redondeado en la superficie.Las causas habituales son las sobrecargas concentradas resultantes del golpeteo, la presencia de partículas entre superficies sometidas a cargas, o los impactos sobre las piezas.

INSPECTION DISTRESS DEFINITIONS

MUESCA (NICK).- Marca pronunciada causada por impacto de una pieza contra otro objetometálico. Las causas habituales son descuido en el manejo de las piezas o herramientas antes o durante el montaje, o arena o partículas extrañas finas dentro del motor durante el funcionamiento.

INSPECTION DISTRESS DEFINITIONS

GRIETAS (CRAKS) Fractura parcial. La causa habitual es excesivo esfuerzo debido a una sobrecarga repentina, extensión de un corte o arañazo, o sobrecalentamiento. Una grieta de ruptura por esfuerzo puede aparecer a lo largo del borde de ataque y/o borde de salida de los álabes rotatorios y de estator de turbina en ángulo recto al borde debido al proceso llamado fatiga de bajo ciclo.

QUEMADURA (BURN).- Daño causado a las piezas por excesivo calor. Indicado por una decoloración característica o en casos severos, por una pérdida u ondulación del material. Las causas habituales son el excesivo calor debido a la falta de lubricación, inadecuada holgura, o distribución anormal de la llama.

EROSIÓN (EROSION).- Eliminación de material por el flujo de gases calientes, polvo de arena, o agentes químicos. Véase surcos. Las causas habituales son flujo de líquidos corrosivos, gases calientes, o aceite con polvo de arena.

SULFIDATION (HOT CORROSION).- Reacción química de una aleación base níquel a la presencia de sulfuro y un catalizador alcalino en una atmósfera de alta temperatura.
