Boomi Mini Boomi Mini - - School School Amongst the preparaons for the centenary celebraons we took two days out to drive to Boomi for the mini-school hosted by Mr Collins. It was a fantasc two days for all the students. They were placed in year groups with students from the other schools that aended. It was nice to meet the other staff members from the different schools and enjoy the resources available at Boomi. Thank you Mr Collins for all of the work put into organising such a successful two days. Camp Boomi At Boomi I ate pasta and for breakfast I had nutri-grain. What I liked about Boomi was doing NRL. What I didn’t like about Boomi was playing ten- nis. I met a Principal called Mr Collins. In Maths I won a dice and I got modelling clay from CMA. After school we went to the pool and we went to a disco and I slept in a swag with my brother. In science we made elephant toothpaste and it exploded. In woodwork we made paddle-pop stick mats. I didn’t like science because we did not get to do much. I didn’t like woodwork because we did not get to use wood. In Technology we got to play on iPads and we got to play whatever game we wanted to play, it was fun. There were heaps of games to choose from. So I chose a fish game, it was fun. The best thing about Boomi was when we went to the pool. The reason why going to the pool was the best thing is because I could go in the spa. By Joel Cisek Boomi Thursday 16/10/2014 we went to Boomi Public School. On the way there we stopped at Goondiwindi for a toilet break. When we got to Boomi we sat under a big cola and Mr Col- lins told us where we had to go for each of the year groups. First I went to wood works. At wood works I made a box out of paddle pop sticks. First we had to make a base out of 1 colour. I had orange for my base. Then you had to build up the sides. To do that you had to put 1 stick on a side and do the same on the other side then do that for 3 colours. You had to use PVA glue to stick the paddle pop sticks together. After that you were done. The next activity we did was sci- ence with Mr Fleming. We did a lot of things and I can’t re- member all of them but I’ll tell you the ones I can remember. First we played with Newton’s cradle which Sir Isaac New- ton invented. There are 5 balls hanging by fishing line string. If you pulled two of the balls the 2 on the other side would move going tick-tock-tick-tock. We also made ele- phants tooth paste but I don’t know how we made it. For el- ephants tooth paste we used Kondies Crystals , water and a another thing. We also made a pretty pattern with skittles and milk. You put the skittles in and it makes the pattern. That’s all I remember for science. Next we did tennis with Ken. First we practised ball skills. Then we hit the tennis ball to each other and had a drink break. When we came back from our drink break we played the line game and that was all of the activities for tennis. Then we did CMA with Col Easton, we looked at skulls and bugs. Then Billy told us a story about a boy that loves climbing trees. Then we made hand prints with another lady. After that we went to the Boomi pool and there was a spa pool, a big pool and a little pool. Then we showered and went to the disco. There were heaps of dances at the disco and we also played limbo. We went to bed the next morning we did NRL with Zac and another man. After NRL we did technology. At technology we played apps on the iPad. By Ella Ramsay Boomi On Thursday we went to Boomi .We did science, technology and NRL. My favourite thing was maths and using iPads in technolo- gy. We played games. There were lots of yummy foods like cake, slice, fruit and cupcakes. We slept in the hall . We had a disco and it was exciting because we played games. We went to the pool. There was a hot tub and a cold pool. We did wood works then we were on the way back to Bonshaw. Mums and Dads were waiting to take us back home. We needed our bag and swag. It was fun at Boomi, I told Dad and Mum everything. it was an exciting time! By Will Cisek BOOMI! ON THE 16/10/14 WE WENT TO BOOMI PUBLIC SCHOOL. THE FIRST THING THE YEAR 2’S DID WAS WOOD WORKS WITH MR HETH- ERINGTON. WE MADE A PADDLE POP STICK BOX .THIS IS HOW WE MADE IT, WE USED A PIECE OF PAPER WITH 2 PADDLE POP STICKS ON EACH OF THE PICTURES .WE STACKED THEM UP WITH PVA GLUE . THE NEXT THING WE DID WAS SCIENCE WITH MR FLEMMING, HE IS SO AWSOME! I TELL YOU THE FIRST THING WE DID WITH MR FLEMING WAS NEWTONS CRADLE. IT WAS IVENTED BY SIR ISAAC NEWTON. WHEN YOU PULL ONE OF THE BALLS THE VIBRATION GOES THROUGH THE OTHER BALLS WHEN THE VIBRATION GOES TO THE OTHER END IT DOES THE SAME THING. I DON’T REMEMBER ANYTHING ELSE. THE 3 RD THING WE DID WAS TENNIS. MR WRAY DID THE TENNIS WITH US AND WE PLAYED LOTS OF FUN ACTIVITIES . THE 4 TH THING WE DID WAS CMA WITH MR EASTON. WE LOOKED AT SKELETONS , BUGS AND CREATURES . WE WENT TO THE HALL TO UNPACK OUR STUFF AND UNDRESSED INTO OUR SWIMMERS. THEN WE WENT TO THE POOL AND HAD LOTS OF FUN. THEN WE WENT TO HAVE OUR SHOWERS TO GO TO THE HALL TO HAVE A DISCO. THE DISCO WAS SO AWSOME, WE HAD LOTS OF FUN! THEN WE WENT TO SLEEP, I WAS SO TIRED. THE NEXT DAY WE WENT TO BOOMI AND DID NRL AND TECHNOLOGY AND MATHS. MY FAVOURITE ACTIVITY WAS TECHNOLOGY BECAUSE WE PLAYED LOTS OF APPS ON THE IPADS, IT WAS AWSOME! I DID NOT LIKE THE MATHS BECAUSE WE DIDN’T DO MUCH. By William Hamel Boomi On Thursday we went to Boomi to do activities. We did woodworks, tennis, science, CMA, NRL and technology. I liked woodworks the best. We made a shoe thing it was cool. I got to sand it and paint it with linseed oil and write our name on it and burn it on. My next favourite was NRL because I got to kick a football. I liked NRL next because I liked kicking goal. We had a disco at the hall. We had to sleep on the floor in our sleep- ing bags. I had a good time and I met some new friends. By Harry Magann
