AFI performs missions of architectural design and technicalengineering of special envelopes , using specific methodsbased on both constructive know-how and innovative spirit.Our process relies on efficient green technologies worked outas a result of the environmental analysis of the project.

SCOPE OF WORK

Conception of envelopes & Environmental consulting :

Our transversal practice is based on a pluridisciplinaryapproach with the aim of conciliating technical requirementswith the architectural expression of the project : lighting, thermics, acoustics, structure, security, maintenance, allaspects being treated in line with the architectural concept.

Our approach focuses on the essential issues conditionningthe environmental integration of the project, then customizedsolutions are being developed accordingly ; the conception of envelopes is considered as a key point for both realizing substantial energy savings and improving the user’s comfort.

WORKING AXIS

The façade is considered as an active envelope, whose conception will directly influence the thermal behaviour of thewhole building ; the correlation with the engineering of airtreatment systems will allow to define precisely the correctpermeability level of the skin and adequate related devices, meanwhile aiming to optimize solutions of natural ventilation.

The façade as active envelope :

Our conception approach carefully takes into accountthe bioclimatic parameters, site datas and usage criterias,in accurate coherence with the architectural expression ; such a global approach of the project aims at reducingthe energetic consumption of the building meanwhileoptimizing the user’s comfort and the quality of spaces.

The façade is considered as a sensitive filter, whoseconception will significantly affect the visual comfort of usersand the habitability of spaces ; the settings of the lightingdatas as adapted to each type of use will allow to defineaccurately the filtering and diffusion level of the lighting flux,meanwhile aiming to optimize solutions of natural lighting.

AFI mission : Designer and Conceptor of ETFE roofsConception of two transparent roofs designed as lightweight structures with ETFE membrane cladding in form of inflated cushions spanningfrom one edge to the other of the mall without any intermediate joint.The cushions are fritted on the exterior skin for daylight modulation andsolar control, meanwhile the roofs are naturally ventilated thanks to thelongitudinal apertures allowing fresh air to circulate under the vaults.
