3And the king spoke to Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring [certain] of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;4Children in whom [was] no blemish, but of good appearance, and skillful in all wisdom, and intelligent in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as [had] ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the language of the Chaldeans.

...5And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's food, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end of which they might stand before the king. {the wine...: Heb. the wine of his drink} 6Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: 7To whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.

8But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's food, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. 9Now God had brought Daniel into favour and compassion with the prince of the eunuchs. 10And the prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your food and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse looking than the children who are of your age? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king. 11Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 12Test thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink.


Daniel 1:8-21




13Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's food: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants. 14So he consented to them in this matter, and tried them ten days. 15And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children who ate the portion of the king's food. 16Thus Melzar took away the portion of their food, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them vegetables. 17As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.


Daniel 1:8-21




18Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. 19And the king talked with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore they stood before the king. 20And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm. {wisdom...: Heb. wisdom of understanding} 21And Daniel continued even to the first year of king Cyrus.

The wine of Babylon - teaching




First tests of infiltration - teachings and food.

That were the first tests for Eve also (who failed), and in Christ’s temptations (Who won).

Daniel and friends are 2 different types with different antitypes.“Daniel purposed in his heart” Daniel makes negotiations on different levels.His friends follow Daniel.

Only Daniel stays until Cyrus:

Dan 121And Daniel continued even to the first year of king Cyrus.

Only Daniel meets Cyrus.

... 9After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God who sitteth upon the throne, and to the Lamb.






Rev 713And one of the elders answered, saying to me, Who are these that are arrayed in white robes? and where did they come from? 14And I said to him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they who came out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.






Rev 141And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him an hundred and forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. 2And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 3And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, who were redeemed from the earth....






Rev 14

...4These are they who were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they who follow the Lamb wherever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits to God and to the Lamb. {redeemed: Gr. bought} 5And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.






● 144000 meet Christ being alive

● great multitude are resurrected

But they meet Christ together ( 1Th 4:13-17 )






1Th 4:13-1713 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
